I know right.. damn near two years since I got to drive this thing, and probably near a year since I did anything substantial on it, times stops for no man, and no apparently no taco either!

I’m getting a used set of Kings from my friend, 2.5 12”. Will probably have to switch springs since his rig is a bit heavier, but other than that they are pristine, and no wait time haha. Also gonna pick up his DV8 airbumps. He’ll be switching to a set of ORI’s he’s getting of his friend, which will be fun to see in action.

Yeah, I watched those, both of those rigs are baaaaaaad mammerjammers!

Will be going leaf over with an anti-wrap bar, figured 63s because I can get two new leaf packs and the kit to make it all happen for like 400 bucks (not including struts of course). I’ll look into the deavers though, I’m sure the kit could be returned and used for credit towards something else I’ll be picking up from WFO. Thanks for pointing out another option

Just sell yours and buy @thegame built DC crawler. The end result will be cheaper and better in the long run. All it need is a new owner

Isn’t that B Reynolds’s? Yeah, very legit build no doubt. My truck has 80k miles on it and I’ve put in a lot of time, just gonna keep on rollin with it. If he’s selling his rig I’m sure it’ll go fast, super nice work.

I am mad jelly of his interior cage… soooo nice

Oh yea. If I didn't link mine yet, I would bought his in a heart beat. No question ask. But I got waaay too much money, time, sweat, busted knuckles, and blood invested in mine now that I'm committed to keeping it.

@thegame crawler will be worth every pretty penny

Just link the rear. It really is the only option since you've decided to go digging for the end of the rabbit hole. lol

Hahaha, I am related to Meriwether Lewis, exploring is in my blood and by golly that rabbit hole has to end somewhere!

But back to the topic at hand - I did ask about linking the back, as I figured I’m jumping in, might as well go all the way, but my buddy who is going to do the swap and has done many others, and who is vastly more experienced than I, recommended sticking with leafs in the rear; he said that linking the rear is great for a bit more capability off road, but you run a good risk of losing on road manners and stability, and I do want this rig to be daily driveable. I think 63s will give me plenty of flex out back anyways, should I want more after a season I’ll think about linking it

Just put a big sway bar - probably less sway than flexy leafs

Plenty of guys running linked rears as DD's. I know some of them are already posting to this thread. Maybe @Tacoma1192 will chime in and give his input. After wheeling with him in his old spring set-up compared to his new linked set-up there's a huge difference in capability. In this case I can assure you none of that came from the driver. lol

Lol, yeah, I’d love to hear more about it. I guess the other reason I like the idea of 63s is that its so damn cheap to set up and the parts total for everything is adding up REAL fast, gonna be looking for fools getting slapped so I can get in on that squid game after all this! With that said, I am all ears

Rear link drivability depends on how the setup is put together, not necessary because you have both front and rear link. You can have front link and rear leaf to help offset the drivability but if the front geometry is incorrect, the truck will drive like crap and become a trailer queen. There's a few guys I know with front and rear link driving better than all around leaf or link/leaf setup.

Coilovers at all 4 corner will cost you shy of 5k if you're running 2.5

None of this shit is cheap. The question really comes down to is the performance gained from linking worth it. If it's not then just stick with the 63's. If you think it might be then doing the 63's only to link a few years down the line will cost more in the long run. The rig will be plenty capable with leafs. It will just be more capable with links.

Absolutely. No amount of money will fix shitty geometry. I'm hoping that since his fabricator has done a few of these front links all the bugs have been worked out of the system. lol

Gonna head over to my fabricators spot here in a few minutes, forgot to give him the key to my locking lugs

I’ll chat with him a bit more about linking the rear. I’m getting a good deal on some used 2.5s kings for the front, but would have to try and find another deal on a set for the rear, as wait times are a apparently a bit ridiculous at the moment - not that that’s a reason not to link, just more hunting and money. I’ll have to look into some of the builds that are linked and learn a bit more, if there is a solid kit out there that makes life easy on my friend and takes the guesswork out of it I very well may just ditch the 63s. Damn my wallet hurts just thinking about it, BUT it’s kind of the whole reason why I’m ditching IFS to begin with, build it once, build it right..

I mean to be honest, my mind thought link f/r right from the start; but my mind and paper/internet building vs the actual building and wheeling experience of my buddy isn’t much competition. He’s pretty involved with the scene up here though and works on A LOT of rigs, so I’m sure he’s familiar with well set up linked rears, I’ll definitely inquire.

Looking over this and the build parts i'd say stay 63s and invest in hydro assist. Unless you already have the HA parts, then carry on with linking the rear.

Hydro assist parts are ordered, I’ll pick them up in about a week.

I need to go through the opening posts in this build and update stuff, title as well I suppose

Eh 63’s are ok for a super budget build or raisined up mini truck but for another $600 over the price of the 63’s you’ll be leaving tons of performance on the table. There’s no way they’ll fit the wants stated for a truck like you’ve been designing.
