Map lights not working

Hey guys need a little help here

All of my interior lights work except for my map lights,I’ve recently had led lights in there but it stopped working so I tried to change it but nothing and samething with fuses all fuses are good. What else could be causing this problem?

Ok, this should mean you have power from the Body ECU.
Since it also powers the Dome/Door.

The switch on the Map light provides a ground.
Therefore, you have 2 options.
Pull the plug at the map light and check for power.
Or carefully probe the bulb socket for power. See if you have power to one of the terminals of the socket.
If, so check to see of you have a good Ground with the switch in the ON position.

 

alright will do tomorrow, if there is no power or ground,what does that mean

 

No power means there is a break or loss of connection in the wire between the dome and map light splice.

No ground means the switch is bad. Or the ground for the switch is bad.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I am having a similar problem.

2015 DCSB.

I removed the overhead console to install a Meso switch panel. When I put it all back together, the map lights no longer work; neither side.

Both map lights were replaced with LEDs a couple years ago. The dome light works OK. I did doublecheck to see if I plugged in the wire connector above the roof console and it is connected.

I had to do some cutting of the plastic with a Dremel tool and a small cordless saber saw. Could the excess vibrations have somehow damaged the LEDs? (Grasping at straws here).

The guy said the connector was “dirty”.


Check the White Wire for Power.
And the White/Black for ground.

If I'm not mistaken, the three slots between the lights are the microphone for the Bluetooth connection to your phone, right?

 

If you removed the LED bulbs at some point before the no work scenario, flip them around. The are polarity happy.

I have a 2007 model.
It doesn’t have a mic.

 

Thanks. The dome light still works and since the map lights are on the same fuse, I know it's not the fuse.

I'm pretty sure the mic works; I'll double check it later today.

It's beginning to smell like the LED bulbs worked themselves loose when I was cutting on the console to install the Meso panel.

When the weather warms up later today I'll have another look at it.

OK. I'm a dumbass.

I removed the console again and realized there are not one but TWO cables that needed to be reconnected. The Bluetooth mic cable was reconnected, but the map lights cable was not.

They are both plugged in now and life is good.
