This sucks. I really was hoping I would make this one. I don't have any mods to do but I'm always glad to lend a helping hand and just help drink beer. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll have an early finish to my stuff on Saturday and be able to make it.

Miller 135 is NOT sufficent for him since he is talking of using 1/4" plate for brackets. You will not get good enough penetration; the only way to achieve enough penetration using that welder would be to preheat the material until it's glowing, which would be a bad idea as it weakens the structural integrity.

    See above

Conduit? why not tube? Conduit isn't as strong and unless you really hate your life, breathing in Zinc fumes from welding the galvanizing isn't exactly the best thing for your health.
Also conduit looks like ass, DOM is cheap.

    \

I know it seems that this wouldn't be a structural piece, but when you actually think about stuff, it has to be structural.

    Examples:
Driving through the desert (which I know you will do!) hit a big rut etc.

Driving 85mph: take the force of head wind multiplied over the SA of the lights and bar, add it the chance that it could be hailing. Multiply the force of impact of the hail/rain, over the affected SA.

I just came across this thread and I would like to stop by if possible to lend a hand and to meet fellow Taco owners. I am pretty experienced in turning a wrench. I have done few engine swaps, turbo installs, standalone ECU installs, system installs, etc... I can do pretty much anything on a car/truck.

I also have 4 jack stands I could bring by and plenty of hand tools!

If I were to install anything it would be the OEM power inverter I got. I got the inverter, button, power outlet and harness. I looked at the wiring and it doesn't look THAT complicated, just running some wires to ignition, getting relay in place and running speed wire to control module. I would most likely not install the inverter there, since I am broke and don't have wire, clamps & relay. Mostly I would like to check out a Taco with OEM inverter and see how the wires are run, so I can duplicate it...

Don't tell me its a bad idea. I am all about a project and OEM look. I want to see if I can do it. I like a challenge...LOL

Now If I can come depends if I can get a sitter for my little boy for the 29th
