What did you pay for your camper shell?

as the title states… what did you pay for your camper shell? which brand/model? location?

 

$3,500 Snugtop Hi Top with sportsman’s package and roof rails. Northern California

 

Craigslist, 495 leer base model with sliding windows. I went to junkyard and pulled 2 racks off some car to get 4 cross bars

 

I have a Leer 100R. I paid $500 in NC from FB marketplace.

 

Yea I still got to get it painted just not high up on priority list

 

But seeing your make me rethink

 

$900 for a Leer, but that was in 2007. Added the racks recently for $200



Paid $1500 for this Leer on my F150 in 2016. All I need is a basic cap.

 

I've had Leer and ARE both good campers, the last one I had I called guys on Craigslist selling their Tacomas WITH a shell and got a paint matched $3k ARE Z series shell for $1200 that was like new.

 

$3,314.66 purchased from local dealer (Pennsinger's in Bakersfield, CA) early Sep installed mid Oct.

Snugtop Rebel w/ dual sliding windoors, roof tracks, and sportsman package (reinforced roof). They were running a special at the time for free fold-down front window.

If you live in a not-shithole (read city) and don't have to worry about people breaking into your vehicle constantly, it's a good option for half or a quarter the price of a hardtop.

Is totally get a soft topper, but I need a way to mount my kayaks.

 

Softtopper + their rack system that goes over the top is an option, but you're in it at hardtop prices at that point.

 

Call up a bunch of Cap dealers in your area. I was quoted $1800-$3000+ for new, color matched Leers.

I ended up getting extremely lucky with a $1000 Leer 100R with a sliding windows and Thule roof racks, total miracle to find it 6 hours away. It was a unicorn item as it color matched my inferno orange truck. Still saved a ton of money with all of the expenses for the trip and I even enjoyed the day trip.

 

Unless you have the patience to find something used... yea, unfortunately this is pretty normal pricing right now. Worth noting mine included a few extra options and installation.

You can scrape by under 2k with a base model ARE. It depends in your dealer too. Gonna have to shop around. ARE V series is your best bet for cheap. But if i knew what I know now, i wouldve went with the reinforced model so i could out heavy shit on top
