I did buy the OEM version because of this thread. If there was another option for a HUD I would be looking there too. However I put in my pre-order for the grab handle and HUD together so here I am.

I bought a PopnLock instead. Painless install and it's working beautifully. My understanding is it's identical to the OEM? I never attempted a real life comparison.

That seals the title change idea.

I think the OEM and KTJO 4x4 :puke: come with the special plastic grommets for the harness passthroughs? I know that @Bertw192 said that the OEM one has some exhaust shielding. Likely other build features as well.

The KTJO4x4 :puke:didn't originally come with a tailgate grommet. That was later added, when enough people expressed concern about drilling holes to make room in the factory grommet.

    Here's a quick comparison:
    • OEM has grommet
      • KTJO4x4 later added one
    • OEM has heat wrap for section near exhaust
    • OEM has metal zip ties for section near the exhaust
    • OEM has full corrugated plastic conduit
      • KTJO4x4 has thin nylon conduit (I actually prefer this version of protection)
    • OEM has a connector at tailgate, like the camera, to allow tailgate removal
    • OEM has a pre-installed grommet where the cable passes through the truck floor into the cab
      • KTJO4x4 requires stuffing wires through occupied grommet
    • OEM has an inline fuse near the connection to the truck's electrical system
    • OEM has clear plug n' play instructions that details the install down to the very specific zip tie placement
    • KTJO4x4 has a better solenoid mounting bracket (although I've not hear of any failures of the OEM kit)
    • KTJO4x4 has had numerous solenoid failures
More discussion about all of this in my sale thread...

I can’t believe this thread is still going. I’m even more surprised people still support KTJO4x4.

Although I still use the grab handle every time I get in the truck with zero issues.

Who makes this? I have one from :puke:, but don't know if it's safe to install.

I think the new kits might. My pop and lock kit from her required me to punch a hole through the grommet, which I then gooed back to relative integrity using black RTV sealant.

    See my build page!
I have ordered a few things from KTJO and have not had any real problems. I have the tailgate lock...no problems. I have the door cup lights...no problems. I have the driver's side grab handle...only is is the bottom bold cover is not flush (manufacturing issue, yeah China). HUD awaiting delivery...fingers crossed. I will say her communication is HORRIBLE. She really needs someone to "manage" her business so she can separate herself from the customer side.

another forum i was on had certain banned individuals names set to change automatically when they were posted. we should have a mod do that if possible, lol. When "KTJO" or "KTJO 4x4" is typed, it will change the post to "KTJO 4x4 :puke:"
