Just out or curiosity for those who have the HUD unit installed AND have done a tweeter upgrade (and the HUD is working properly), is there any interference from the HUD and the tweeters? (Or vice versa.)

I know the tweeters aren't that much bigger (if at all) from OEM.

Well my missing t-tap harness was actually shipped out when they said it would. Showed up today marked 2-day priority. Looks like I’ll get to install those and run my v5 drl wires next weekend.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Ya see?! Gawdammit! That's the song of the Sirens I'm talking about. I want one of those. My wife REALLY would like one of those.

I've got a 2 level fusion and titanium in my neck as well as a 1 level fusion in my lumbar after yanking out the titanium. Of all the vehicles I have driven, the Taco is the most difficult rig to get in. It's not real bad but every single time, I have to make a conscious plan of how I go about it. The handle would be greatly helpful.

@tacopeter Were these an "In Stock" item when you ordered your's or was it a wait forever kind of thing?

It was in stock as a “clearance” item on their website. Ordered 1/4, shipped out 1/10, delivered 1/14. So, 10 days to get from Oregon to Washington.
Decided to take a RISK and order one, as I had nothing better to do since I was in Covid quarantine and had time to wait. Might be a good option for you to order one (at your own risk of course).

In case you do end up with the item, just to let you know it isn’t perfect out of the box, so here’s some pointers: 1. Use painters tape on both sides of the bolt thats used for the metal pillar. 2. Have a sharp exacto knife ready to trim off excessive plastic pieces little by little for fitment issues. 3. Top handle bolt is at an awkward angle; so remember to raise the back of the bolt up slightly when trying to get the thread started.

Another update (tomorrow is a holiday):

We have been working on this fix from the very start. Our vendor was working on making us an additional harness for the second optional install process where the 2019-2022 trucks will need to install their HUDs under the steering column.
There is a different harness and a different wire that will be sent out to all our HUD customers first thing tomorrow morning. Sorry for this inconvenience.

So I got my HUD today. Anyone that has been successful in hooking it up, please let me know what the extra wire harness is for.

Could it be the extra harness/adapter that's needed for the newer model Tacomas? Does the harness from the HUD plug directly into your OBD port?

    Just guessing here

Post #5543, just a few up.

I know your truck is 2018, so maybe a extra piece that you won't need.

It appears the harness I have does not use the OBD connector. Looks like a pass through connection. Maybe LH foot panel. Also has 3 amp fuse attached.

Here's Today's update from "the vendor" with directions for the new harness:

We have asked our vendor for the second install but it's really easy. If you turn your steering wheel sideways you will see two screws that go to your steering column cover panel. Remove those screws. That will allow you to remove the two piece covers. Under the steering wheel you will see a oem connector that looks like the new harness we just sent out. Disconnect that from underneath. Plug the new harness in and then the oem one into the new harness. Then just follow the rest of the other install guide that is on the HUD product page

@caribe makaira can you help find a reference for this plug?

Yeah, we're lost... The new harness is the one without the OBD port reader:
