Hello... I am finally getting around to fix up my 2001 Toyota Tacoma. I want to get some recommendations on bigger tires... wheels. Would you recommend a lift kit, etc.? I'd like to lift the truck and get bigger tires... not too big. I'm new to this and would love some assistance. I also attached a picture of my truck.

Get a service manual if you can and read up on it. There is plenty advice here. Be careful to pick and choose the correct advice.

You have a four banger, the bigger the tires the less power you will have.
I have a 3.4 supercharged so it doesn’t effect me.

31x10.5 might be a good choice depending if you have an auto or 5 speed.

I have kings up front and bilstein 5100 on the rear with 31x10.5x15 that raises it 2” at the lowest king setting

I have a 2.7 4 cyl. 5spd. Mt, 4x4. I put dakars with an aal, bilstein 5100s all around, currently have ome 880s for springs up front but am switching to 882s for more lift and because I'm getting coastal off-road bumpers hopefully soonish. The 880s settled too much for my liking. Done diff drop as well. Extended rear brake line, bpv tab to accommodate for lift too.

    Edit: I'm running 33x12.5s on a 15x8 rim if anyone's curious

Brings back memories of my 2002, reg cab, 2wd, 2.7 prerunner. I've always liked mickey Thompson classic wheels on first gens. https://www.mickeythompsontires.com/wheels/classic-iii

Maybe a nice all terrain tire like faulken wild peaks or toyo at3 in the same factory size or slightly larger with a mild spacer lift. Might benefit from some new shocks as well.

Just new wheels (gosh I miss when my paint looked that good :( )

    31s, stock height

    31s, ~ 2.5" front lift (Bilstein 5100s preload) and 1.5" rear (springs)

33s, 3" lift all around (springs front and rear)

Apologies for the photo dump, but seeing the progression on the same truck should help

It looks like you may already have close to 31s? Note that sizing up with a 2.7 will be noticeable in terms of power.

When I went from ~28s to 31s (10% overall size increase) I definitely felt it with the 3.4, but I could deal with it. When I went to 33s (almost 17% larger than stock) I hated it and had my differentials re-geard.

My suggestion is start with the wheels you want, maybe with a little extra offset to give it a wider stance. That is the cheaper than going all out and may please you
