Finally have the front suspension of this truck set up the way I want. Icon 2.5 coilovers with Fox 600lb coils (ask me why the coils are Fox not Icon ) and SPC UCAs. For those that have seen this truck before, also got a new bumper.
Now that the front rides well, it’s obvious the rear is kinda stiff. Stock leaf springs and an Icon AAL, Icon remote resi rear shocks. What route would y’all go to improve the ride/weight capacity in the rear? Looked at Firestone air bags or getting new leaf packs, just not sure what route to go. Any input welcome.

A full leaf pack could help, but I'd look into getting the Archive Garage Hammer Hangers + crosstube. I know on it's face it doesn't seem like new shackle hangers would make a big difference in ride quailty but they definitely do. On my truck it was very apparent right after the install.

Also now when towing the truck feels much more stable. In the past towing on the highway felt almost out of control at times when I'd hit some bumps or potholes at speed but now feels much more in control.

I’ve heard a lot of good about them, are you running yours on stock springs as well?

Sounds like that’s the route I’ll go then. I either have no weight or a huge load it seems like. I also have a steel rear bumper.

Because you off-road a lot on relatively straight trails with whoops vs bumps and curves and were not interested in dry road yawl reaction, so you chose a progressive shock vs digressive as that is ideal for your target conditions.

Well since he said ask about the coils and not shocks, my guess is a broken Icon coil replaced by a Fox.

Wrong, because I bought the Fox coils for $50 and swapped them out for the too-stiff 700lb Icons. I offroad very little unfortunately, just gravel roads and rough backroads. I appreciate your thinking I’m that educated in suspension technology though.

"Stock leaf springs and an Icon AAL, Icon remote resi rear shocks"

"it’s obvious the rear is kinda stiff."

For most ride quality issues we encounter, its best to start looking at the setup first before pointing at parts to replace.
-You have Icon AAL, with or without overload spring?
-How much up travel do you have in the rear? Looks like it sits low compared to front and maybe its bottoming out quickly?
-Measure up travel at the bump stop. Curious to know how much travel the shocks have also.
    -Stock rear bump stops?

I believe without overload spring. Yes, stock bump stops. I’m not sure on shock travel either. I wouldn’t think it’s bottoming out, I don’t beat on it hard enough at all.

What I meant by “it’s obvious the rear is stiff” is that now that the front rides fairly well the rear feels a lot rougher.

Im in the same boat; fox 2.5s on 600lb 14inch with JBAs, rear is dakars with relocated 12 inch fox 2.0s. The rear being stiff makes the front feel like shit. Ive heard the archive hangers make the difference.
