Eh there’s probably more guys in CenCal that do that to their trucks that HI. The guys in HI know how to mod their trucks for off-roading too:

And it’s the same as squatted trucks in the south and lifted duallies in Texas. There’s trends that people follow for whatever reason. Lots of them are unsatisfying, much like the worst of them: overlanding.

I think its interesting how people mod their vehicles around the world, not everything needs to make sense or have a purpose

Perhaps the owner prefers his style to the majority here. As was said, "his money". Art is in the eyes of the artist.

I think that "style" is goofy. I was born and raised in Hawaii (Oahu), but live in NH now, and I see a lot of those around here too. Maybe it's because I have a Corgi, but every time I see a truck like that, I see him - long body with stubby legs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I realize that every State will be different, but wouldn't it NOT pass safety inspection (I know some States don't even do safety inspections) with the tires sticking out beyond the body like that?

    Is that a double negative?

Nah. Drop bracket lifts are stupid and gross. Gimme a nice 3” suspension lift with 35s and you got me drooling.

Well, it is a 2wd so the problems that DB create wouldn't really be present here.

Serious question, as I've never even been close to truck like this, but how would the ride feel?

Like you said it depends on the state. This truck wouldn’t be legal in wa but wa doesn’t have state inspections.
    Lack of mud flaps
the tires stick out from the body too far.
    Led bulbs in halogen reflectors
    Window tint
    Windshield stickers
    Christmas lights

Few examples from a very long list of mods that are considered illegal in this state. While it’s possible you could be pulled over for any of these things the likelihood of that actually happening are slim. I think we can all agree law enforcement has more important things to concentrate on than a guy who’s running with no rear mudflaps.

I'm generally not one for exo cages and I still wouldn't do that to my truck, nor do I really understand why they caged the bed but not going to lie looks cool as shit.

    As for OP's truck.

    Crime against humanity.

We had a guy with one that looked exactly like that, hell could even be the same truck I don't know. It showed up to a TW beach meet once, came in revbombing the straight piped exhaust windows down blaring music so loud with so much bass nobody could hold a conversation within 15' of it parked at an angle took up four spaces got out leaving the music going started walking up and down the rows of well built off road rigs laughing at our "little baby trucks with no lifts and tiny tires and wheels what do you off orad in soccer fields?" eventually pissed enough people off that everybody kinda got to together and told the dude to leave he tried to argue we were just jealous and should check out his insta to see real trucks not these pathetic excuses before he got the actual idea then he got mad tried to do a doughnut before leaving nearly took out one of the nicest rigs there before the traction control stopped things getting out of hand, watched him fumble with turning it off before trying to do a burnout nearly fish tailing into another sick restored 80's rig and thank god we never saw or heard him again.

Fuck that guy and fuck anybody like him.

I have a feeling he tried hard parking with the compensation machine diesel bros and got laughed out of the parking lot then tried to prance his prick infront of people who couldn't care less hoping for some pity attention.

I'm so thankful that for the most part the off-road oriented community doesn't care about the toxic car culture dick measuring and is more about the hey y'all grab your rig let's hit the dirt and see some views!
