RCI engine and Xmission skids in. A couple of the M12s on the factory front members took a righteous cheater bar to get out, but none rounded or snapped. They actually cleaned up shockingly well and were just fine to reuse after almost 13 years of Salt Hell.

Was a hassle getting it in solo, crawling around on the garage floor, but doable. An offset ratcheting head 14mm wrench was invaluable to get the driver's side rear nut tightened for the xmission skid - it was able to reach over the crossmember and through the kink in the exhaust.

Nev-r-seize on everything, Amsoil HDMP on all the cross member surfaces under the skids and on all the hardware heads.

I have the Tcase skid and cross member (RCI's "full set"), but I'm going to be tearing the ass end out and doing some frame work in Spring anyway when it's warm enough to sandblast and paint outside, so I'll do it then.

Happy Groundhog Day! Costco Tire guys installed the Gen3 alloy wheels as a "winter tire swap" this morning for $49.96. I took in the wheels, new TPMS sensors (programmed by seller for 2008-2012 OBDII), and the new black standard length lug nuts. Mike said he went around the truck twice to set the TPMS reading (no additional charges). I like the look and the way it rides on slightly lighter wheels. The new Michelin Defender LTX MS 245/75R16 spare tire should be here in a week to install on the single alloy wheel to be hung under the bed... We replaced the original set of Dunlop tires last August at 19.5k miles. 20210907_170739[1].jpg 20220202_105921[1].jpg 20220202_105853[1].jpg

Looking good! Excited for updates once stuff gets installed.
I love x-runners, I couldn’t find one anywhere in my region when I was buying though.

There’s a two tone black and red one down the block that I’ve never seen move. I’ve thought about rolling up and seeing if I could make an offer but, I probably can’t actually afford that right now anyway .

No pics cause it was cold as hell in the open garage this evening but I did the @Crom ABS Kill Switch mod. We're supposed to be getting a bit of snow/ice tonight and I'd rather not have a repeat of last year's Snowmagedon near miss when the ABS kicked in at the worst possible time and I nearly ended up in the ditch because of it.

Do you have any pics behind the air box? i noticed you have a TRD OR and i have that stupid ABS pump there since mine is not an OR. I am wondering if that is going to be in the way. Looks like a tight fit

I don't but I could get some if you wanted, as you can see I did have to relocate the windshield washer bottle as it was competing for space there, the 3rd gen intake box is a little smaller than the FJ but doesn't have the flap drain or cyclonic separator.

In mine there's enough space to easily put a 2nd battery back in that hole and been kinda thinking about it.

That would be great if it's not too much trouble. I did notice the washer res relocated. Was that optional or were they competing for space?

Edit: looks like they didnt play nice together after looking back at where my res is now. definitely a much bigger air box

Today, February 2nd 2022, i walked past our Tacoma in the garage. That’s all. Waiting to start our build till after the shop is insulated. Hard to work on it when i can’t feel my fingers. Hey it was warm today, like 25 degrees. Spring is just around…never mind, spring is nowhere in sight.

Started by installing a pop and lock than the Bak Flip MX4 that’s been in the garage for 2 months. After that threw a set of plugs in, cleaned the MAF, throttle body, and changed the air filter.

Add the jerry can/water can holder to the tailgate swingout tonight. Almost complete, fold down table is next and then some paint!
