My parents were rear ended today (2 month old Taco) by a nice middle age lady, a local family attorney. The lady took full responsibility and reported the accident to her insurance shortly after. It's obviously not something anyone wants to deal with but at least the lady was respectful and apologetic for the incident. Now to deal with the repairs and so forth. My only concern is the truck was only two months old and had just turned 1k miles! The body shop better not report the incident to carfax because I don't wouldn't want my parents to take a hit on the value of their new truck.

Installed an Apogee Gen 3 rear bumper. I love it and only a 25 lbs gain over the stock hitch/bumper....

That looks good. Confirming the BSM and backup sensors work properly.

    Thanks

I've got the Diamond back HD on my Sport. Im thinking of getting the appoge bumper too- does your truck sag in the buttocks with the bumper and diamondback?

I wouldn't be overly concerned for the oil, that's a little amount, if you are concerned you could install a catch can.

RJwildcat, if the police were called and a accident report was prepared, this will be a carfax ding. Only way to avoid that is to handle it all privately .

There needs to be a “that sucks” button. Glad nobody was injured, and the person that hit them was adult about it. I’m sure you and your folks are on fire about it.

Thanks. I paired the aluminum bumper with a Warn M8000s. This is the lightest bumper/winch combo I could find and be comfortable with. There are far less expensive options, just not nearly as light.

I didn’t get any additional sag from the install. I do, however, think the suspension is less compliant over small, high-frequency bumps.

    Oh look, another mod....

All body shops report accidents. About 2yrs ago, I took my Hyundai Sonata to a local body shop to have the front bumper repaired (I hit debris in the road). I paid cash to have it fixed, and I thought "Since I'm paying cash, it was a single car accident and I ASKED the guy not to report it, that it wouldn't get reported!" Wrong.

When I traded in that Hyundai for the truck I own now, they said "Your Carfax report came back with an accident on it." Sure enough, it was the work I had done to the bumper. There's no getting around Carfax not knowing. That truck will have a ding on it's report for life.

When a body shop enters your VIN and/or license plate into their system, Carfax will pick it up.

Judging by the pictures you posted, the Carfax will show "Minor" body damage. You just need a bumper, tailgate and rear tail light.
