I have the same one, one of the first mods I did back in 2015. Lock sticks on occasion, but never had an issue beyond that. Oh, and I plasti-dipped it once because it started fading.

 

Hit 59999 miles and did the plugs...

 

Shop didn't finish the truck yesterday so ill get some when I get it back today.

Finally found them!

 

Replaced the two broken/missing power outlet covers.

 

Drove some backroads in the cold rain and got it dirty.

 

I installed new exhaust cam gears this past weekend from URD.

I found out about it through @mightytacoman on his thread here:

In short, it's meant to give a bit more power (low and mid range), better mileage, and reliability to the engine.


It seems to take most people anywhere around 4 to 5 hours to complete. Shorter if you're familiar (and pre-2012 Tacoma) and longer if you're like me, meticulous and slow.

Everything was labeled, thus everything was put back just how it was and the truck started up just fine.



Most people have some level of difficulty breaking loose the cam bolt and dealing with the SAI in the 2012+ Tacomas. Mine is a 2014 and the SAI sucked balls. My fiance helped with things and she wanted to break loose the cam bolts. So she did with help from breaker bars.
Everything was torqued back to spec.

After driving it for a few days, I can see improvement in get-up and go and in acceleration. I even tried just punching it from a stop and got the wheel (open diff, haha) to break loose and peel out. Truck wouldn't really do it prior to this mod with my slightly larger/heavier tires on.

Regardless, the project was tiring, but fun tearing into things again. Thanks again to @mightytacoman for his thread, his contribution of machined gears, and information.

Parts now awaiting my install is: 3rd Gen skid plate, extended brake lines, Icon RXT leaf packs, and Archive Garage Hammer hangers. Thanks to @Key-Rei for putting that mod in my head.

 

Don't forget the high clear cross tube and fab-shackles!

 

I looked at their online stuff but couldn't find them.

 

It's kinda built into the Hammer Hangers page as an option when ordering those or you can message @ARCHIVE directly for them.

 

Put some primer on my US Off Road winch bumper a couple weeks ago when it was warm then temps dipped. Now its going to be warm enough again to paint so Ill start throwing some coats of paint on it then start installing the winch. Also need to locate the two bolts that hold those funky pointless extensions in place to the front of the frame that I removed last year.
