Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

Just got done with the inner fenders last night. These things are awesome. My truck was totaled from a hit to the front end that ended up ripping the frame end off and then putting it on its side. Needless to say that I wasn't starting with a blank slate but these went together really well and actually have the front end body fitting together better than the factory inner fenders. Worth every penny plus no more rubbing. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next. Hopefully the next purchase for me is the Howe pump kit.

 

I went through like 3 contact tips in a 10lb spool. My contact tips keep getting gunked up with stuff where the wire stops feeding. I am using gel to keep spatter down and lubricate the wire. Is that normal? And I just think they need to last longer?

Where are the washers that come with the upper control arm spacers going? Or are they for non gusseted?

 

Non gusseted. They provide weld washers that create a small gap when you do weld the gussets in being they warp a little. Pretty sure this is all in the instructions.

 

Well considering I didn’t get instructions, I’m kinda rolling with it….

 

Need more info, what machine, what brand wire, wire size and what kind of metal are you welding?

I never use gel as it will clog the gas ports and typically a single tip will last me about 100lbs of wire

 

Considering they are online you didn’t look hard enough

It’s been a long weekend

 

Wow. Yeah I figured they should last a lot longer. Do you use any spatter spray or anything to keep your nozzle clean? Hobart 210mvp, .030 wire, Hobart .030 wire. Welding 1.75 dom tube and 3/8 plate.

 

I never use any sort of sprays or gels for anything and I do a LOT of welding. Correct heat and wire speed settings will eliminate almost all the spatter. If it’s too hot you will get excessive “fine” spatter and too cold or too fast and you will get “chunky” spatter.

Also what are you using 3/8” for on a truck?!

 

Okay good to know. I don’t have a ton of spatter but I definitely can practice and dial in the settings to get rid of it. Just modifying the bumper and trying to figure out what I want to do to make it look cleaner. Thought I’d like the open tube, but not sure if I really like it. The plate for the winch is 3/8 I think. Wanted it closer to the grill and cut the bottom off since I cut the front lower crossmember off, the bumper stuck too far down before.

 

Some of this stuff is so much easier with the inner fenders deleted.

 

I’m hoping it will look better once I get the skid plate integrated in with the pivots and put the lights and winch on the bumper.

 

That’s a wrap for this weekend. I’ll poke at it for a couple of hours a night after work, really hoping to be starting glass fitment next weekend.
