I was hoping to take all July off and drive to UT/CO/Wy/MT. But with gas prices it’d be nearly $1400 just to drive to Denver and back

That would be a beautiful drive. Wyoming and Montana are the prettiest places I've been to. I want to do Utah and Arizona but haven't gotten to yet. And if things continue this way I may never get to.

Oh heck yeah! Been a long time since I've seen one of these. They could literally go anywhere. They'd fill the tires with water for stability & traction in boggy situations.

Yep, or extra fuel to extend your range. If wheels are empty it floats on its side for deep water crossings. Has a valve on the gas cap you close to keep the water out. Looks like an old 2 stroke version.

Crazy they still make them and they’re not radically different from the old ones.

Does anyone have a lead on free old used tires? Tried hitting up tire shops but they no longer give used tires to the public due to liability reasons. Needing 20-30 of them.

Someone making a backstop? Have you tried hitting up the tiny hole in the wall tire places. The ones that will mount past due tires and stuff like that for cash under the table. They don't seem to worry about liability.

Here's a good start, looks like atleast 20.

Don't know how much time you've got, but you could honestly make alot of people happy sitting outside a tire shop somewhere (with the shop's permission) and asking customers for their old tires, saving them a stupid disposal fee lol Then its the individual giving you the tire, not the shop = zero shop liability.

Man, I searched CL before posting and was shocked I couldn't find any- Turns out I was in another states classifieds. :frusty: This is exactly what I was looking for.

I have genuinely thought about this.

I've done it more times than I'm proud to admit. Back in the days of stalking CL and Marketplace 50+ times a day in a 400 miles radius to find a color matched camper shell.

I understand. I found my shell in Alabama. I think I originally found it on CL then discovered it was a member on here also.

I’ve mentioned it here before but it’s worth posting again. Use SearchTempest for Craigslist browsing.

It’s a search engine that allows you to search a region/mile radius of your choosing vs searching state/cities individually.

A little of this and a little of that.
Sad indeed. Rick was good people. I had a few conversations with him over the years. Very considerate of his wife to inform TW that he passed.
