Here is a great video to watch so you understand the Toyota suspension better. This guy has a couple good ones. This may help you with your decision process.

so going to go this route probably. Thinking of doing the 887. Would you suggest the 3aal or single with the 887? Seems the 3 may ride better some say

Thank you! That helps. I’ll share what I’m looking for if you can help me too

    So Ordering my first lift.

going to go with headstrongs kit.

    885 or 887? Leaning towards 887

single leaf or 3? Leave overload on?the post you shared helped (Eventually want to get a camper shell or possibly a alu cab at some point) so don’t want it to sag

still not sure what to do with the camper shell in mind. Thoughts?

Uca needed if going with 887? (If I don’t need it, I’d like to save the money here)

this guy started with 885 and went to 887 with UCA. So wanted to hear other opinions. Want to keep it level if possible.

Just something to note, Bilstein 5100's are designed to lift using the factory spring, while the OME springs are a lift spring designed to work with factory shocks or OME shocks.

Although the combo of Bilstein and OME springs are done regularly, there are lots of complaints of harsh rides from the combo of a lift strut and lift coil combine.

This is why I decides on a system designed as a single unit over mixing and matching.

Be sure to keep the Billies on 0 though if you go aftermarket coils

You probably don't need UCAs for the ~2" lift you're going for. Once you get it set up and take it in for an alignment you'll know. If they can't get the truck into spec you may need to get new caster correcting UCAs (basically any decent aftermarket set).

Go with the progressive 3 leaf AAL for a smoother feel. Maybe get a ubolt flip kit and new bump stops while you're at it since you'll have the rear suspension apart anyhow. I've got the Icon 3 leaf AAL w/ overload left in since I have a Leer shell and some other weight over the back end.

Not to hijak, but why the hate for Tacoma Beast? I was looking to snag some gear from them. Should I stay clear?

OP, I did the 5100s W/AAL as well and couldn’t be more happy. I did end up going back and adding UCAs later and I’m very happy that I did. Plenty of clearance and room for my 33s.

This video/guy is way over looked on this site. Everyone should be required to watch these videos before asking suspension questions. IMO of course…

I am have 5100's all around on stock springs set at the highest setting and a wheelers single add a leaf in the rear and I am very happy with how my truck rides and handles. (Just my 2 cents)

I dont plan on having steel bumpers or a mounted winch in front. I do have full steel armor and sliders, a camper shell, RTT and other gear though. I used 5100’s all around, 1 AAL in back, and the stock coils in front. Off-road handling is good, as is on-highway cornering. I do tow a RV trailer occasionally so I also added Firestone airbags with Daystar cradles.

As a general rule, I hate the business model of drop-ship reselling even before the douchebaggery factor.

If I see something I like on a reseller's website, I'll try to track down the manufacturer and support them directly. Not only does it give the manufacturer the profit margins they need to keep making cool shit, but it is 1000% less of a hassle to get support and warranty.
