If you're going to weld up the filter access cover than get the Baxter Performance filter relocation manifold and never worry about taking the skid plate off again.

I'm speaking now - my pee has been held

I know you guys are selling some merch and stuff for the club, but have you considered signing up for some sort of affiliate program? Commission Junction is an example, you can apply to be a 4WP affiliate to get some commissions. There are also many outdoor stores and whatever else you can apply for to. I'll be honest, most are American so I'm not 100% sure the 4WP affiliate link works for the Canadian domain but a couple examples below for the team.

I told you I'll sell them for you, only 25% commission

Hmmm. That’s an interesting concept. May have to run it by some of them. However, even if we got some raffle prizes are something, that would be pretty slick.

Imagine getting a winch and partial recovery gear bag in a raffle. That'd be dope.

but i am against being a corporate shill.
I don't like being a "commissioner" sounds slimy. We're here to ride and have fun outdoors, not turn a profit and sell people stuff.

Even Amazon affiliate is free to sign up for, no mandatory following or subscriber count to earn commission.

    > Give us links to products

    > we buy, you earn. (most products are around the 1-3% range)

This applies to both the American and Canadian domain.

Just a part of capitalism, mostly for the influencer group to earn money

Something to look into for sure. At the end of the day all the money goes back into the trails or community so it’s for the good. @Shveet and @Norilsk we can check out the store idea on Amazon. That would be a good way to give some education as well for necessary items to have for recoveries, electrical and what not.

I get were you're coming from. however depending if we do something like that (again this is my perspective on this matter). Is that we'll loose our sense of "self".
We're just a bunch of Joe-shmoes and gear heads that like to wheel and enjoy the outdoors that all met up on a forum. Whether people show up or not we're gonna enjoy doing stuff.

again my perspective and experience with other groups, by going into this "land of affiliation links" to get the club more money, we will slowly turn the club to become more of a business. meaning managing and providing a service. "oh you want 5% off this dope as hell Warn 12000 Winch system? well join our club and save!". Thus artificially inflating our numbers.

I would rather have a small group of 20 than one with 200 people in it only for the deals.

I mean it as our sense of "self" as a club. you told us you like it here as we're an "old school" forum group which stuck with me and want to keep that going.

i'm here for the outdoors first, hanging out and learning a close second. Selling stickers and the odd sweater for those that want it i'm fine with but aren't necessary to do so but extending into the realm on sponsorship, i'm afraid of feeling "fake".

I dont want to start selling people shit that i've not tested - Oh yeah this warn 12000k winch is friggen mint! No one in the group owns one.

I know the corporate idea of sending people somewhere to buy something sounds scummy but there are ways to do it ethically and can be done in a not-for-profit sense.

I didn't intend to divide the group over a business model, I'm formally against dropping links and advertising places for money but I don't see harm in leaving a few links on page 1 to earn some funding. The truth is that most of us are buying these products either way.

Also I want to point out that the bottom bar of TW is an affiliate thing.upload_2022-3-29_10-5-35.jpg

Absolutely. I hate the money aspect of the club personally. Hate dealing with money, hate asking for it, hate all of it. Why most of the stuff we do we try to give something back like a prize or a 50/50 or get a sweater. And then all the money from that goes back into trails or community stuff.

I think with the Amazon stuff it would more of a “hey if you need stuff these are some options, but you can also get it cheaper or buy local that’s cool too”. Definitely would not be doing the whole shoving it down peoples throats. No bueno.

    Epic. Can’t wait lol.

Definitely an interesting concept and worth a conversation. I know I get asked constantly about products and I’m always sending people links on Amazon since it’s just easier to link stuff from there. From the standpoint of a newbie looking to get stuff, that’s a good way to navigate the vast products out there. Can also have information between the differences and stuff.
Even if it’s just a google document where no money is involved it’s worth a shot.

I forgot about that products bar....

If the group overall genuinely want it, then go for it. I wont support Amazoom links though.

I just want the group to be open to those that come and go, kick back and hangout and talk about stuff. I dont want to get sponsors or affiliation links that have the risk of being revoked just because i said some Shittybilt snatch strap is a piece of junk. I dont want that pressure of being "tell them this and we'll give you a free car" type BS.
Is it nice to get free stuff? yes.
However i'd rather spend my money and find out - and then tell everyone whether it's worth it or not without the pressure of bias.

I understand the afflition is not sponsorship, but there has to be a line drawn first.

Won’t ever be that. This group will be open and honest and inform people of what’s best regardless. Everyone has a say and your say won’t be based on your pocket book. It will remain chill and laid back. As long as we are contributing back into the community and having fun while doing it, then all is well.

This gets brought up once in a while online and in person. We are quality over quantity when it comes to community. Our primarily source of income are annual dues, donations, sales of hoodies and raffles. Our raffle prizes donated by the people for the people. We don't sell stickers even nowadays (before we did), they are available for free to anyone, the catch is you must be there in person to pick it up. So finance wise we are doing absolutely fine, but open to discuss and debate.

Yet we are open to a certain degree of commercial collaborations if that is going to increase club awareness and promote our principals. One of the examples is the upcoming OverlandNTH event where we going to have presence and give some talk. We did not even apply, they reached us and asked if we want to try. If there is traction in that direction we can discuss more down the road how to approach this. The more it get's commercialized the greater responsibility it becomes and higher expectations from others. At the end of the day we are a bunch of cahoots that enjoy outdoor aspects, trucks and chit chat crazy stories next to a fire while the rain pours crazy on us, would not take it any other way.

In any case there is going to be upcoming annual meet open to everyone for one week online in early May, where questions can be asked, ideas suggested and we going to share our vision for this year and report if we reached our goals last year. See below last year meet up for reference. So I would definitely bring this up again there.
