Checked the torque on my front end. Still squeaking like a MF when making slow turns. May be time for new bushings. Also went camping this weekend. 20220409_162958.jpg 20220409_163420.jpg

New member, traded a 17 Golf GTI on this 22 TRD OR DCSB.

Last weekend installed SCS Br6 16x8 -12, definitely will go up 1 tire size when the time comes...
Today, finished up mounting a Pelican V800 vault to 8' Billie Bars.

No pics because it's nothing exciting, but I bought a Bissell Little Green carpet cleaner and used it on my seats. Highly recommend for anybody with cloth seats and pets.

Welcome. Looks like you've already gotten with the program...

    :spending:

Noticed a brand new, bone stock, Sport in the lot at work last week. Debating whether or not I should see if he knows about TW.

And with all the talk I couldn't stand it and had to look in the manual to see what it said. Didn't have much to say except "Helps to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward when starting on an incline or slippery slope". Didn't mention anything about rolling forward, gears or models. @Ruminator post clarifies some of the questions for sure.

So another weird one is: Stay with me here... my truck is key operated only (no fob) and only one door has a key-hole. (I can turn the key twice to unlock the other door, so that's nice.) But the weird part is that this key-hole is on the driver's side door. This is 2017 after all.
My '42 Studebaker also had only one door with a key hole - but it was on the pax side - by design that was so you didn't stand in traffic to open, lock, or unlock the door. That's advanced thinking. That's safe thinking.
As was the pax side wheels having left-hand threaded lugs. Thus they would self tighten when the truck was in forward motion, just as the driver side would in fwd motion. (Along the same thought lines as bolts placed w/ head at the top in vertical applications and at the front in horizontal applications (aka "direction of flight")).

It is weird to me that modern designers skip such elementary precautions.
Of course we'll ignore that the Stude came with only one tail light (driver side), one outside mirror (driver door), and no turn signals (have to use your arm). But it has push-button start! When it was my daily driver, I added another tail light.

    - The one saving grace in my eyes is that the Stude has a bench seat. It is easy to scoot from pax side to driver side. Not so easy with Taco's bucket seats.

I suspect the left-handed nuts went out the window when they realized how much more expensive it was to source and install two sets of studs and nuts, and how little of an effect the orientation and thread direction had on the likelihood that the nuts would loosen.

I think having key only locks and the only key lock being on the passenger side would piss me off to no end since I'd have to walk up to the passenger side, twist twice, then walk around to the other side of the truck to get in. Key locks on both sides would make plenty of sense to me though.

And damn I miss bench seats.

I'm a guy who still opens the door for my bride (40 yrs this July) and as it is, I have to go to my side first to unlock and then swing around to hers to get her door. Not an issue for me at all, except she sometimes doesn't wait for me to get there, then I feel silly (...and continue as if I'm pre-flighting an airplane all the way around the rear & back- which is good really). If the key-hole was only on her side, it would work swell for me. Both sides would be ok too, as I now know how to look for oncoming traffic. :)

x2 on the "missing bench seats"!

    Oh look, another mod....
She looks good! 9yrs for the ceramic coating? That must have set you back a lot. I only got a 2yr warranty on mine and I paid a fair amount.

Same as you as I still open the door for my wifey to get in and out. Thank goodness I have the fob to unlock the doors. It's a shame Toyota is so cheap and that they don't add a key hole on the passenger side
