I’d have my lawyer negotiate an independent shop to perform an assessment at their cost and we can proceed from there.

Depends on what State you are in? What response have you gotten from the Dealership so far?

Maybe a Dealer Buy Back would be an option to consider with only 7,000 miles.

You won't get a new truck. You might get a new engine if there's actual damage. You will probably get an oil change and a 100k mile warranty on the engine.

Yep. You have a used truck op. If they do anything to it they will probably use used or reman parts as well. Get a lawyer or go with a super duper extended warranty on whole engine. If things quieten down I would go with super extended warranty.

This sounds about right. Take a new engine, or new truck. A or B, nothing else. 7000 miles jeesh.

What exactly is a dealer buy back? Trade in value?

One very easy way to tell if the engine is damaged beyond repair is to inspect the oil filter . Pull the filter and cut it open and inspect the filter media pleats . You can easily see metal debris or a metal paste inside the filter media

    Wow.
    It's a used truck.
You will not get a new truck.
You will not get a new engine.
You could get an extended warranty.
Your best bet is the relationship you have with the dealer. They can make you whole based on your relationship.
You get lawyers involved too quick and the whole deal could sour and you could be looking at a long time an a lot of money to finally settle.
Get it fixed by dealer, take the extended warranty and trade it.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I’ve seen them run low on oil for miles with no issues once oils put in but since a dealer fucked up here I wouldn’t be happy without some kind of warranty extension etc

Scrippsranch67, I am currently driving a loaner provided by the dealer and waiting to hear back. Drove by the dealer last night and the truck is still sitting outside the shop.

    Ooooooof

make them provide you with a lifetime power train warranty.

who knows what kind of damage has been done, and I cringe at the thought of my vehicle running on no oil. Your Tacoma might last long, but it might not. I wouldn’t take that gamble.

Get their general manager involved. If he/she can’t provide a lifetime warranty then take it to an attorney.

write everything down. Take notes of everything.
