How many of you knuckleheads have recharged your Tacoma’s A/C ?? Just wonder if I should spend the money and see if my 2012 needs some TLC.

 

Its stupid easy. Your local auto parts store should have all the necessary equipment to rent. Youll need to get it evac'd first for a recycling fee at a garage that does AC work.

I found this looking for info on Uwharrie because I’ll be nearby this weekend and I’m itching to do my first (very easy) trail in the new 2019 stock Taco with locking rear. I’m looking for something in the 2 hourish timeframe that my 3 year old can enjoy from her car seat so even just dirt roads are good. Really just want a good reason to get the new girl into 4lo if possible without going too crazy. I have some experience but mostly with shorter wheelbase and better tires. Any advice other than don’t take a 3 year old? Thanks!

 

I guess it just depends on where in the state you are. There's the start (or end) of the Georgia Traverse which is around Salem SC. There's Gorges State Park in NC. There's Musterground Mountain up north, I haven't had a chance to get up there and explore but there are those here that have. I think there's a thread about Musterground runs. If off-road parks are more of your thing, try Gulches. That's another one I haven't ran, so I don't have any experience on that trip. Theres a few more ill try to remember.

So I'm kicking around the idea of selling the overland trailer . Why well I need the money so with that being said I've priced some out like my style so I'm thinking about 2k with the tent or 1500 with out the tent . May do partial trades for guns

 

hvac is a sealed system so if you are low on Freon you have a leak somewhere. You’ll need to find the leak, address it, then evacuate the whole system and recharge properly. You can diy with the proper equipment.

 

Even a well-sealed system is still subject to atmospheric leakage. Isn't it possible to run low on freon in a 10 year old truck without a significant leak?

Our 2012 Odyssey wouldn't cool at the start of this year. I charged it up and it's ran fine for 2 months now. If you charge it up and it only lasts a week or less, you know you have a significant leak that needs to be addressed.

After the AC not being utilized all winter, the rubber seals shrink or deteriorate. Pick up one of those recharge kits at your favorite auto store. They usually include some sort of seal refresh and are super easy to use.

 

my 22yo GX blows ice cold ac. Has never been touched as far as I can tell.

usually any leakage is from a oring going bad. The heat cycles in the engine bay will eventually cause things to wear out and that is when stuff starts to leak out.

 

Sounds good. It's on 35s wired up on a 7pin plug and has a battery mounted on the trailer that's wired into the 7pin to charge the battery while the vehicle is running . Also have the title for it too . Haven't swamp it over to get to my name but it's an open title for whoever buys it.

 

I go to Lowes for that, HD doesn't have the homeless population skulking around the parking lot.
