Torque specs who needs those ugga dugga that shit on or crank it good n' tight and you'll be fine. If nothing has come flying off my truck unless it broke then it's good.

Yeah I’ve gotten a good feel for torque values now and just do it by hand and send it. It’s good to know the rough values and use it as a way to gauge what doesn’t need to be given all the ugga duggas. I always do lug nuts with a torque wrench just because I’m a little obsessive and probably habit.

This is what happens when you don't torque lugs  Sheared off the rear lugs

I have yet to torque my lugs whenever I take my wheels off or rotate the tire and they haven't flown off. :anonymous:
This is the biggest secret from years of turning wrenches for a living and using impacts and stuff I've gotten a good feel for things and just send it home. Plus engineers put torque specs on things that you can't even do with a torque wrench when it's in a vehicle and you can only get to it with an open end wrench. Only thing I use a torque wrench for is building an engine or the valve body in an auto trans.

That’s probably why I have a ritual of doing it now. I forgot to torque all my spacers and sheared two bolts off the hub one time. Shit was knocking up front and I was surprised when I took the wheel off haha. Made it about fifty miles like that somehow.

That was from me being tired and not paying attention after finishing the rear lift. I don't think I ever gave them the normal ugga dugga.......................I have never used a torque either

I drove a few hundred miles on mine. I was in the parking lot when the wheel finally let loose. I was trying to trace the sound for weeks

I like to torque everything to spec. Take lug nuts for instance. The studs in your hub have a bit of a “stretch” factor. When you over tighten the lug nuts, you take this stretch factor away, putting you closer to failure. Over torquing can make steel bolts strip out aluminum threads. Dissimilar materials with dissimilar strengths. My $.02 worth…

Also, what happened to Phil too!

But, I will usually add an extra pound or two over manufacture specs.
