I had it up there on my last set and it never squeaked thankfully, so we will see. I appreciate it though.

I got the motor mounts from here:
    https://www.prgproducts.com/product-page/toyota-4-0l-motor-mounts

As for the horror stories that I have heard, they all have to do with hard wheeling. If one of the stock mounts fails it will result in a bunch of destroyed parts and an expensive tow home. The motor will essentially drop in place and I’m sure you know how that would go. I feel as if it’s just good to know there’s a solid mount there and not have to worry about it. I recently heard of a third gen that was out wheeling and one of his mounts failed resulting in him losing his motor and some other damage.

Yikes! I have scaled back on the hard wheeling, but might add them to my long list of things to do eventually

Yeah in my opinion it’s just a good insurance. With all the money we spend on these trucks I just feel good knowing the motors safe and sound. It also gives a little bit of a faster throttle transfer or that could just be my butt dyno lol

Changed out the spark plugs for the first time, looks like they were overdue. Not too bad of a job, everything is pretty accessible and no surprises.

Changed out the cabin filter that was obviously very overdue, complete with eviction of a long term mouse tenant. Absolutely gross!

Took photos of it and ordered the popular cam gear mod. Hopefully installing my 6112s next weekend

Thats how I felt towing my friends Talon down a hill on the freeway. It pulled it with no issues and didn't have any problems stopping luckily.20220304_155359.jpg

Oil change and transmission pan drain and fill number 2. Slightly screwed the pooch during the last one, but the second time was much more successful. A very happy Tacoma, all done just in time for not having real weekends for the next month or so because of Flight Operations.

Little bit of this and that
Cam gears are on my short list of mods to do this summer. That and my throw out bearing, it's been squeaking pretty bad lately.

My TOB doesn't bother me enough to tear into the trans, plus a lot of people who've replaced it says it comes back pretty quick anyway

I had to stop driving manuals, due to multiple foot surgeries starting in 2010, so I sold my 6 speed Z28. I had seen throw out bearings with a zerk. I don't know if there is such a thing for the Tacoma.

If the throwout bearing itself is still good you can depress the clutch fully and hold it down with an object while you’re under the truck. The door behind the slave cylinder can be removed and with the clutch depressed the shaft where the throwout bearing rides on is visible. It can be greased from that door once removed. Just grease the shaft move clutch back and forth then should be good to go.

    Boosted Nerd,
IS THAT THE FACTORY HITCH? DID YOU UPGRADE? My hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs.

I too MAY have to tow a mopar car this summer in about 3 weeks. Uhaul told me if I do a tow dolly to get one with electric surge brakes, or like you were using, one with electric surge brakes also which is all I think they have.

As far as I can tell its a factory tow package on my truck. I bought it used and went to buy a batter off the vin and it was a factory tow package. It also has a trans cooler from looking into it. The total weight was under 5500lbs. I towed it about 30 miles down a couple big hills with no issues. Ive towed a bare shell also with my truck and that was probably 4500 and it did just fine going up the same hills.

Might have to give this a try and hope for the best for the short term. Long term plans are to replace the whole setup with the Tilton hydro setup that @BillDaCat8 developed.

I towed this from Greely, CO to Austin, TX with no issues. I did have the Uhaul auto transporter with hydraulic surge brakes though. Did it with a stock tow package and stock brakes. Car was about 2,400 lbs and had a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the truck bed.
