If you kept your old tpms sensors then you can always do the pvc "pipe bomb" method for around $10. Just google it. A lot of people do that and it works.

Anybody who knows me knows I love some pvc pipe and compressed air, so I did think about doing this! However, space is at a premium in my regular cab!!!

I got the same things on mine when I had to treated. Its to prevent more water and such from going up into the front of the frame where they have had issues. I actually had to remove mine to bolt on my rock sliders. I don't know how much good they would do, I think they would trap more in there then anything its not like they are sealed tight.

Were you able to bleed them like normal? I’ve got brake lines I haven’t installed because I read somewhere you have to open the abs with a Techstream

What have I done to my 2nd gen today? Nothing fun. Started getting a P0306 code a few days ago. Cylinder 6 misfire. I swapped plugs between #6 and #4 and swapped coils between #6 and #2 to hopefully identify the problem. After clearing the code and restart, no immediate code, but it's been doing that. So I will try it again tomorrow.

Invoice says plug hole kit. I guess that's what it is. Once I get a chance I'm going to hit with some fluid film.

When I took mine in for frame inspection, they added those and then filled the front end of the frame with foam. The little hole in the middle is where they pump the foam sealant in.

Got a link by chance? I've been looking to replace mine and the usual suspects are out of stock or way overpriced.

    TIA!

Done by me: decals, plastidip, and vinyl. More to come. Not done by me: Icon front/rear suspension; Total Chaos UCA’s; Method wheels/34” Falken tires; Prinsu cab rack/LED light bar; V1Air compressor piped to a 2.5 gallon underbed tank; Pelfreybilt front/rear bumpers; Smittybilt front winch.
Boogie have you noticed any negatives about deleting the brake dust shields after this install? Just watched the vid finally last night and had always wondered about doing that delete also, but hadn’t really seen anyone do it before.

Worst squeal I ever had in a Taco was when a piece of gravel got stuck between the shield and the rotor, but it only squealed in reverse lol.

No but I only did this a few weeks ago. @EatSleepTacos ditched the brake dust shield a few years ago and hasn't had any issues though.

I also ditched my brake dust shields when I saw what the dealer wanted for new ones. Just did a bunch of mountain driving on/off road with 0 issues

Yep! Bled them like normal starting farthest from the master cylinder with help from a buddy pumping/flooring the brake pedal.

I went through Headstrong for mine. https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...SS_Front_Brake_Lines_(PAIR)_-_05__Tacoma.html

I don't understand why you would remove the dust/heat shields from your brakes. I have been working on vehicles for nearly 50 years and I have never found a reason to remove them. The brake pads and rotors are protected by those shields. What is more baffling is adding mini skids to lower control arms and then removing the one thing that protects the brakes. The heat generated by the brakes is contained within the shields preventing heat transfer to other components such as rubber bushings and hoses. For those that live in areas of snow where roads are salted this is a terrible idea because the chemicals in road salt is abrasive when it is dry which will speed up wear on caliper seals, pads and rotors. Lastly brake dust. That dust is going to coat everything on your suspension. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but some things shouldn't be tampered with. I have seen a rock jam between a shield and a rotor one time in my entire life. That is just a fluke thing to happen. I believe in the future you will find that this is a mod not worthy of doing.
