because it's fixing a non-existent problem. I've never heard of anyone winching off their bumper.
Also if you look at this photo, you can see it gets bolted through the cross member so it's more rigid anyway.

so it's a gimmick? Damn, thank you.
I guess it is easy to make a small piece of metal and market it a certain way.
Talked to a guy who had C4 with the reinforcement and claimed it's needed for any type of strength/support such as for any type of recovery from the end,

which made me sad because hearing that kind of tricked me into limiting my front bumper options away from anything that *doesn't* have it, which is pretty much anything non-C4

that #1 sucks, because many other company products look awesome
and #2, is suspicious, because I find it hard to believe other professional off roading companies with experience would really overlook something so "necessary" if it was actually the case.

If that is the case, I'll forget about the reinforcement and look at every brand, not just C4!

I've winched several times off my coastal bumper with my Badlands Apex 12k and I'm sure several others in this thread has as well. I reinforced my frame horns however and that IMHO is necessary if you are going to be winching.

FYI FWIW, you can buy those braces separately. Would it hurt to have on there? No, but it's definitely not necessary.

Can you provide more info on how you reinforced your frame horns?
    I wouldn't necessarily say it's a gimmick
    (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rcement-plates-plate-before-you-break.186212/)

there have been a few reports of people ruining their front ends by winching without reinforcement.

Here's a couple more pictures of how the new crossmember gets installed between the frame horns. Once it's fully welded it's pretty strong...I hope lol..then the bumper rests on the new crossmember and bolts through it. I just hope I welded it good enough haha.20220418_223834.jpg 20220418_223851.jpg 20220418_223857.jpg 20220419_113631.jpg 20220419_115257.jpg 20220418_204428.jpg

Did you also get the high clearance skids to protect your steering rack and belly?

Actually it was SOS now that I think about it. BAMF was my cmc plates.

I didn't go with the CO high clearance skid because I wasn't ready to cut my exhaust that's required to install it... so I fabbed up my own out of some 10ga I found. It's pretty thin material and it doesn't have any stiffening ribs because it's so close to the swaybar but it's a little better than nothing I figure. If i remove the swaybar i can then beef it up a bit...20220514_145405.jpg 20220514_145045.jpg 20220514_152945.jpg20220523_111649.jpg 20220523_111658.jpg 20220522_224657.jpg

Is that all you have done for reinforcement? Working out fine ?
I might just have to fab some up for peace of mind.

Some cardboard will have you a template in no time. Yeah I haven't had any issues. I winched a prerunner up a steep hill offroad and the same ford ranger on 2 or 3 occasions. All in the same day.

Tacoma frame horns are notoriously weak and will easily deform from winching. That C4 bracket (and Relentless, etc, make similar ones) ties the bumper back into the frame. It might not be necessary with the Costal kit, but it is for many others.

That's why I welded a 3/16 plate to mine. SOS carried these plates, but is no longer in business.
Relentless doesn't make one or doesn't anymore, but BAMF makes a reinforcement bracket. but you'd have to cut it in half to use it with the Extreme Clearance bumper from Coastal. The C4 one looks like it'd still work though.
    https://www.bayareametalfab.com/FBR...inforcement-brackets-2005-to-2022-_p_142.html

But again, I'd think with the coastal Extreme Clearance it's a non-issue with the new crossbar and 3 extra mounting points.

I wonder why the extreme clearance version is so much more than the regular high clearance bumper of the same specs (full tubes).
    $111 more.

    Agreed, I hope it's a non-issue.

And I like the simplicity of the BAMF bracket.

Wondering if anyone has had this issue. Currently putting together my rear high clearances on my 06 to match my front only after a year lol. Ran into a little mismatch part I think. I ordered for my 1 inch body lift and I'm positioning Plate #7 but it seems way off. I msgd Brandon but since its sunday I doubt I'll hear from him until tuesday. Ithink He ma have sent the #7s from a normal kit..
