Yep the modern day tech trucks so much better. I being driving nothing but old and use trucks. Once I got my 2019 Tacoma TRD. Don’t ever want to go back to the old.

The reverse camera , was a first time for me, what a amazing gadget, so much easier backing out. Now I want to add a front camera!

Old dogs they say cannot learn new tricks, but we all can learn. Now to figure what that button is for? ..so many buttons…

Anyone remember the 8 track players 1960-1980 . Had one in my 1957 Chevy wagon.

Yesterday turned out fantastic. The wife's 2017 Avalon looks better than new again. I am not getting any younger, the detailing wore me out. Pics Below

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! No progress on the filter - I think I'm going to blow the shop vac through it when I fix that drip tomorrow. At least it's running in recirculate mode. Wife found a new handyman for roof duty - washing off the solar, and I'm not allowed up there - going to be here to early for my liking. More coffee, fast!

Avalon looks super Tom - better than showroom.

San Francisco will always have a special place in my heart.

My Grandmother was born there in 1883. I've told the story of her 6" hat pins, the fellow sitting next to her put his hand on her knee, and those hat pins were deadly weapons! No non-sense lady didn't put up with fools and had at least six hat pins on her head, knowing you only needed one or two to secure your hat!

My brother worked in the HVAC Trade and just loved the city's vibe. I walked everywhere and knew every bartender in the city. He loved his whiskey, so after work had his favorite watering holes. So I was in the town for business, had a free evening, and knew he would have his afterword whiskey. Tracked him down, and he was blown away. I told him I started down the list in the phone book, but boy was I glad he wasn't at Zorba's as I was running out of dimes.

Honda: My wife hasn't been during very much. Pretty much her Honda has been sitting for the last three months. So I take it to boxing classes every couple of weeks to keep the battery charged and running.

I'm heading to class. The road is posted at 65 mph and just cruising along at 60. BANG! Lound noise caught my attention, but I felt like the car was in neutral. Coasted off to the side of the road pulling into a parking lot. No forward, no reverse engagement. Shut it off (maybe a computer malfunction?) Nope. Nothing. Underbody panels fine, no rebar sticking out an oil pan, or other road debris damage.

I called Honda and explained the 2021 CR-V with 2600 miles on the odometer. "That never happens." Free roadside assistance for the first three years, so free tow. The tow truck driver arrived, checked it out, and said I never get calls for new Honda's. We joked about getting new Jeeps all the time but never Honda's. The dealer got it and said, "uh, that never happens," So I'll find out Monday morning what happened.

I suspect an early "bathtub failure" due to a missed QC item. When Honda went from 6AT to 8AT on FWD Minivans, I remember that they had a rash of failures. Under torqued main shaft nuts inside the transmission, the nut backs off, causing the issues: updated part and procedure and no more problems. CVT in the CR-V is a well-proven design they have used for over thirty years (it first appeared in the Honda Insight in the USA about 20 years ago).

My mind is still racing on this one, but the "bang" says time for a new factory transmission. Glad it's still under a 3-year warranty and didn't happen when taking my wife to the hospital!

TW practices age discrimination, at 77 I am looking forward to joining the 80+ group.
Someone may walk upon my lawn if they bring their mower, weed eater and then plan to use both out of the innate goodness of their heart.

All you guys talking about how you keep stuff shiny is really disturbing...

The only thing I am OCD about is enjoying my time, and polishing something that will be covered in dust the next day isn't cutting it for me. But I'll gladly sit in my lawn chair in the shade and banter with you as I watch. Give me a real project, something that makes a difference, and I'll be right there with you.

They say “The older you get, the wiser you become.”

The older you get the more life experience happens to you and the more mature you become. “Learning never ends”

Now if you keep repeating those bad experiences, you learn “nothing”. If you keep repeating the problems , most likely not getting “smarter either”.

Studies today have shown the older you get, the less risk we take. Why we do not climb on the roof today.

Being mature has nothing to do with age. Maturity is excepting what life give us, making the best of it.

My wife reminded me we have friends in from Pennsylvania and are meeting them in North Beach for dinner. Time to dust off her CRV and drive to the city. It’s raining here for the first time in months and people lose their minds, just imagine if it snowed here.

I have a confession to make. At 62 I have never shoveled snow. Not once. I’m not opposed to it. Just the opportunity to do it has never presented itself.

Back to crazy San Francisco, say a silent prayer, the wife and I are going in at two thirty pacific time. It’s still a great place to visit if you know where to go. The cops do a great job corralling the degenerates into the tenderloin mostly. So we’ll be fine……..if I don’t post in a few days send in some mean kids to look for me….

side note: We just sold my moms house in the city two years ago and she lives in the East Bay now at 93 she still drives and is 100% with it. She is slowing down big time but but I’m her biggest fan! She has no fear of driving or going to SF….

Very philosophic. But bottom line some people are just dumb shits. They keep repeating life mistakes and then complain about the results. They never reach maturity. Fortunately the Darwin effect deals with many of them. I however state emphatically there are no dumb shits on this thread. We is smart. Gotta go now, I’m off to train my rattle snakes.

I consider myself on the bright side of the Bell Curve. However, I have done some really dumb stuff and not all of that dumb stuff was in my long ago youth.
