Did you try and match the 14° angle when you cut the Superbumps?

No, but they have been where the duro bumps have been for about two years. They should be fine.

Dang... It's been a while since I updated this build thread. Been super busy wheelin this year, and figuring out how to do the Youtube thing.

I did do a couple things to the truck during the course of the season though.

Probably biggest thing is we're now on 315s instead of 285s

Here's a little video on what was done with the tubbing. Along with fixing the locker issues I was having.

Aside from that... There hasn't been a lot going on with the build. Just a bunch of trips... wheeling pretty hard this year.

    Some things were broken

Broke a leaf spring bolt on Swamp Lake Trail
    20220814_153046.jpg 20220814_153053.jpg

Bashed the t case skid on Dusy
    VideoCapture_20220910-101900.jpg

Dusy also made a lot of contact with the rear driveline.
    VideoCapture_20220910-101852.jpg

Also broke both of my CVs on Dusy, broke 2 of the mounts on my steering rack, and what skid plate mounts I had left before the season, ended up needing some work... my son and I fixed most of that.

    IMG_20221025_140030_048.jpg

Dusy ended up being one of the most epic trips we've ever been on. All kinds of trail repairs, winching, great times with friends. It was a trip to remember.

So, now is when I start scheming on what we're going to do over the winter...

We learned a lot about the truck this year. What it does, and what needs to be done to take it to the next level (or, levels).

#1 thing is dual cases. THAT is even something Jen is 100% in agreement on... so, I guess that's a good place to start.

    Ordered the crawl box
    Photo_1667353303865.jpg

Ordered the triple sticks (so we can keep the 2 cup holders we have left)
    Photo_1667585218153.jpg

My buddy picked up the crawl box yesterday.

The dual case build will be added to my 4wd swap thread HERE

This winter is probably going to be even more busy than it was when we were wheeling and doing all of our trip this past season.

I think the best place to start is to finally install the 1 inch body lift I have been going back and forth on for the past year. (I've literally had the kit for a year).

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IARQTQ
    [IMG]

The body lift will give me a little added space for the dual cases, and also give me a little more room to work on the plans I have for the rear suspension. And will also give me a little more room for the tires in front (which are probably going to go plus size from the 315s)

LOL... we ended up fixing WAY more issues on the SA trucks we wheel with, than on ours this year.

But no... this truck will never be SA. But... Hopefully, by the end of winter, it will be LT.

Seems like every year, about this time, is when I sit down and start developing plans for the winter. Every year, I set some pretty lofty goals. This year is definitely not an exception.

Most of the time I do a pretty good job of meeting the goals, and getting "The List" completed.

This year though... "The List" is a big one. And an expensive one. We'll see how far I get on this one.

So, I guess the first question I have for the group is this one.

I need to go full float... Yet another thing that is wrong with the truck is I am hearing the all to familiar sound of a growling rear bearing (again). I also want to do a rear axle that matches the width of the long travel I'll be doing in front.

This is what I'm looking at: https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.co...eWIvKzqcx1eSY-ir4duA9QTTxuvBvutQaAqi9EALw_wcB

I'm looking at the Ruff Stuff 9.5 custom housing for the following reasons.
It's the longest bare housing I have found available (72 inches) so I can cut it down to what ever the front width is going to be.
9.5 Land Cruiser 3rd members have 5.29 available
9.5 Land Cruiser 3rd members have a Harrop locker available (let me just say it first... Just stop with the ARB... stop it... not happening)
They also have pre fabbed trusses, armor etc for this housing, as well as fill caps and drain bungs etc.
Ruff Stuff is also local (relatively) so I could avoid over sized, over weight, shipping. (I considered a Diamond housing, and halfway considered them building the housing... but freight alone from CO is over 350)

Here's the question though... I'm having trouble figuring out how to terminate the ends to make them accept the spindles, brakes, etc. I need to figure out the proper flanges, where to get them, etc. I have asked around and A) it seems like no matter how many times I say it, the people I'm asking can't seem to understand I am not talking about a front axle. B) They just want me have them build it for me... which is not going to work, because no matter how much I need to learn, and how much I don't know here... I've got to save everything I can or the list above is not going to get even close to completion.

So... @nDub, @foxrcing07, @theesotericone, @betterbuckleup, @rob1208, @jberry813, @Dalandser, @Mademan925 ... Do any of you know, or know anyone I could talk to on how to get some tips, tricks, pointers, advise, on building (finishing) a custom housing?

Right now, I'm kind of in the dark on the housings (foundation) as soon as I have a little understanding on whether I can make this work, I'll order the housing (which will need to be built) I'm hesitant to do that, because I don't want to go ordering a housing I end up not finishing.

I guess, to be more specific.

I need to figure out how to stick Land Cruiser spindles, bearings, hubs, brakes, etc to the end of that bare housing. I'm assuming I'd need the right flanges to do that. But the flanges are what I'm having trouble tracking down.

I'm assuming LC brakes etc are a good way to go since they have discs (upgrade from my drums and still Toyota 6 lug) but still have e brake drum inside the disc. I've heard there may be other ways to go that may be better. Front Range/Diamond was saying they would do it differently if they built the axle. They were (understandably) vague about what the other way was.

Maybe talk to this guy, as he is currently building a custom rear axle for his rig and about to cut down the housing to length to match the axle shafts.

This is part of what you need with that RS 3.5" axle tubes to be welded on.

    upload_2022-11-16_16-11-11.jpg
    https://frontrangeoffroadfab.com/toyota-full-float-housing-end-flanges/

Followed by quite a few parts like this:

    upload_2022-11-16_16-12-4.jpg

But now its better to have a Drotor setup by Diamond Axle/Front Range. Better braking then the SA non venter rotors and small calipers.

Thank you! I was literally looking at those flanges. I just couldn't get anyone to say they would work... which is why I started second guessing.

I have also looked at the full floater chunks stock kit before, and was assuming it could be mashed together to make something work.

@Kwikvette you know I'm going to be drafting you to stack some dimes.

I'm a halfway decent welder. My son is better than I am... but neither of us are quality I would trust welding something like axle flanges

All the other stuff, shock mounts, leaf perches, mounting tabs for the brake lines, the fill cap and drain bung, we're good.
