    Hey folks,

I recently upgraded suspension on my 2016 SR5 4x4 LB. I went with Bilstein 5100 all the way around with Old Man Emu 885 coils and Toytec AAL in back. It seemed like the best combo in terms of height gained and ride quality and cost. I was inspired by this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dclb-with-885-springs-5100s-at-0-and-3-leaf-aal.502144/ which seemed to work out well for this fella.

My hope was to gain around 2-2.25 lift in front (keep things fairly aligned and avoid having to do UCAs due to harsh angles even though I know it would be ideal).

Stupidly I did not take measurements before and only after. It seems like I got wayyy more lift than I was expecting. It looks really high. I'm a little concerned about the CV/UCA angle. I know it will settle some but it'd have to come down a lot. I'm running 265/75/16.

    Questions:
    • See pics and measurements, is this higher than other people have got? Obviously i did 0 notch on the billies
    • Can anyone measure their stock ride height from center of wheel to bottom of fender to compare?
    • The ride is stiff as shit. This is my first time doing this so not much to compare to. For those that have done this lift, does it loosen up at all? Running a soft topper but will do solid shell down the road and sometimes run RTT so will be adding some weight but not a ton in back. But damn it's bouncy.

    Thanks all

I'm SB and got 1.8 with 885. You won't get 2"or more on 0 setting. What is your center of the hub to the lip of the fender?

It is alot for 885 on 0 setting.
Mine is at ~22.5 and UCAs look ok compare to yours.Did you cycle the front suspension?

Looks like you put the lower spring mount in upside-down. That will give you way to much height and it will be a stiff ride. The spring should be in the lower mount, not on top of it.

I can't find a direct side shot, but this was my truck with 5100s and 885 ups front.
    265/70/17 tires.

Looks sorta similar, yours might look a tad higher...
Check to see if the clip was installed upside down as previous posters have mentioned.

Well folks, turns out it really does make a difference if you assemble the struts and coils correctly haha. Rides like an absolute dream and front end came down around 2+ inches. Check out the pics. Now measuring 21.75" passenger and 21.5" driver (center of hub to bottom of fender). It appears to have ~1.75" lift in the front. I was hoping closer to 2/2.5" but I'll take it. The ride is awesome. Thanks all.
