Ya I tried to tie the front sensors to the rear on a different truck and the signal would get all screwy throwing the po500. I glued the magnet ring from a Toyota bearing to the hub and mounted the sensor and it worked, but really needs to be sealed. Also I found the old style tone rings metal style with a jeep jk sensor works with the Toyota abs with a 52 tooth ring almost identical read outs until about 35mph.

On my personal truck I went with a Currie axle with 4 runner bearings to not have to deal with the abs issue. Prolly possible to use a magnet strip from a bearing on your full floater. Another option would be to add another sensor to your front spindles

There is absolutely no reason why I'd want to add the sensors back into the equation on my truck. ABS/VSC/Trac is out to kill you offroading anyways....which is why almost everyone disables it offroad. I'm also of the opinion that ABS is not a system to be "rigged" in order to make it work. You either disable it or you keep it going with the stock components/configuration. The last thing you need is the ABS to decide it gonna do its ABS thing when its not needed because of something you rigged to make it work.....its a recipe for disaster. At one time I was all for the currie setup that kept the abs sensors and the system working but by the time I decided to start doing it they discontinued making that axle for the tacomas. It was then that put me on the path to figure out the speedometer issue so I could just go full float and call it a day.

Anyone have there belt start to walk off? Opened the hood today noticed the belt had a thread hanging off it was off 2 groves on the crank and 1 grove on the bottom left. All stock setup less then 100miles almost certain it was put on correctly everything looks aligned and correct

maybe early belt failure? Old belt at installation? Got any fluids leaking onto the belt causing it to fail? It’s a bit of a pita to change but these things go so often that I keep a spare just in case.

Aftermarket pulley or stock 3.0"? I'd check all the ribbed pulleys for correct spacing. Mine rides really close to the the edge of the idlers but hasn't moved anywhere beyond. Stock length belt with 2.7 smooth flow pulley, roush tensioner, nst crank pulley.

When I did the T56 swap into my 4x4, I used the sensor wires from the Toyota trans for the speed signal, with the Dakota Digital box. I am pretty sure that I still have the wiring diagram for which wires to tap into, in the ecu. Interestingly enough, they were the same wires that the XRunner used. If that means anything.

The sensor that went to the transmission? I couldn’t get that signal to operate the speedometer. I fed them to wires at the abs unit. Which should of been the same wires for speed input behind the cluster according to the diagram I followed and wire I metered. That’s the sensor that worked for me on digital speed input but the speedometer never moved. It populated speed to the ecu and my check engine light stayed off.

Would you mind sharing them to me? I want to compare what I’ve been trying.

I would check belt alignment religiously. 100 miles isn't very much at all. If wear on all the pulleys have good engagement and looks straight, there's probably an obstruction on the pulley or belt issue. Pull off belt and inspect is my final answer.

Pretty sure the 2012+ trucks have a way different cluster setup which is why that same fix may not work for you.

Can confirm. Don't recall the specifics, but they are indeed different.

Never had a belt problem like that. You have something not in alignment somewhere. Get a ruler out and start aligning pulleys.

My money is on a mis-install of the belt itself. It's very easy to miss on these trucks and when it is missed you usually pay dearly for it.

Here's a question for the group,

Any of you boys got a pair of CV axles in good condition? I really would rather not go aftermarket, and CV axles have been an issue for me since like 50K and I just want a new set to replace the current junk I have. Wanting a clean set in good shape.

If you have some that you would be willing to part with, let me know. Apparently, reman is on backorder currently according to Toyota. o_O

What’s failing on the axles? The bearings rarely go out. Most remans are a grease and boot swap. Very easy to do and would save you quite a bit of money. I’d venture a guess that you could rebuild both axles in an hour once out of the truck.

Rebuild (actually reboot and regrease) the axles. It's not difficult at all. An extra set of hands may be helpful for one or two things, but not 100% necessary.

I have some pics in my build thread. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/scott-b-s-2015-ac-build-expo-style.368814/page-14
