My question is should I be looking at having anything checked or replaced before warranty ends? Our truck has been solid so far, jus about ready for set of tires.
I'm about to hit the 36K mile mark in our 2020 RWD Offroad Tacoma. It has not been off road as yet. Would like to get out and play sometime but haven't yet. Truck is TRD Offroad RWD. V6 Automatic transmission. Cloth seats. No real extras.
    Thank you in advance!!

I would say check that lovely timing cover for leaks. It’s a pretty expensive job.

Bring your Tacoma in to the dealer and say the engine is making a noise. That way they check everything.

Ha. More like check nothing, tell you it’s normal and send you on your way.

I did this years ago in my 2nd gen and they found things that needed fixing. So it works

Don’t forget, you have a 5 yr/60K warranty on the powertrain.

Thank you all for the suggestions, really enlightened me! I had thought about selling the truck and buying new one while the dealers are offering more than ever on our Tacomas. Our 2020 is doing well and I have no real complaints, I've added things including upgrading 6 speakers and sound deadening material to all 4 doors.

Same boat, coming up on the three year warranty expiring in September on my 2020. Been reading all the complaints and tech/service bulletins on the NHTSA website. Making a list and then taking it in for the first and last 3yr/36k warranty visit. I don't have many miles as well as being oblivious to little things so the bulletins help me notice things I would otherwise miss.

    On my list:
    • Fuel pump recall
    • Lower steering column cover, clip won't hold so it sags down and then rubs on the back of the steering wheel.
    • Nav map update before 3 year free trial expires

    Ones to look for:
    • Timing cover leak near power steering pump
    • Leak/wet on bell housing access cover (rear seals or trans leak)
    • ECU updates, trans shifting and neutered crawl (you have crawl control?, it's broken on 2020's)
    • A/C whine under certain conditions (debating if I want my dash out for nothing but a noise)
    • Others?

Shameful. Just sell it to someone who's actually going to use it for what it was built for.

Yup, whenever a warranty complaint, the techs get about 15 minutes, or so to diagnose the customers problem. If its not in their data base, or they see nothing, your sol...it either didn't happen for them, or its normal.

Some just do all sorts of mods with big ass mud tires to look pretty, and parade around the mall parking lots never seeing anything off road.

I am always amazed at what bothers other people !! Love reading these forums - cause somehow the message monsters always like to make the OP's look bad. They really offer zero help to the question that is asked. Happens to me every time. Great question - and there actually is some helpful advice here for you sir. 5443 on the scoreboard !! I’m guessing 43 helpful. How bout that - I get a point on the board and I too was of no help. Regards

One for the trans shifting TSB-0092-20, a second for the crawl control TSB-0045-21. The crawl control update is the most recent so it includes the trans update as well.

Usually they say it does not make noises...unless they have a decent amount left in their warranty claim %, then they might tear it apart. If warranty to customer pay percent is too high they might send you home with a blown engine saying its ok lol.

well, don’t wait til the very last minute. 3-4 month left on the warranty is reasonable

Hmm didn't know they even made a 2wd version of the Offroad model. Seems odd. Learn something new every day I guess.
