The more crap they put in cars, the less attention the driver spends doing what he's supposed to be doing.... driving.

The keyless entry, and being to lock/unlock from the app is nice.

I can head my phone to my friend or a passenger to type in the address where he/she wants to go to... then I get the phone back to send it to my head unit.. It works that way and that's what I want.

With Android Auto at least, one may just say "Navigate to Home Depot <either town or zip code>" and it will take you there. No need for typing.
It will allow dictation of SMS/TXT messages. It will even read them back to you. I presume the head unit on the Tacoma will allow one to do that.
You can even press the voice button and say "Play some music on Pandora" and it will be done.
Or you can ask Google assistant a general question.
I think in my Subaru, I can even adjust the climate controls via my Voice.

Looks like I'm going to get the truck I want after all. A fellow member turned me on to a dealer he used. I called them they had one coming with the LED light package and the technology package. It turns out their own by the same people that own the dealer that's 10 minutes from my house. Should be in in 2 weeks and they're going to ship it up to me.

I should get my new Tacoma in 2 weeks and I'm going to park it until I can get in and get the cosmoline done. I'm outside Boston and they use tons of salt

It's a lot cheaper if you get it from the factory it's only a $500 option. Some people prefer Morimoto LEDs some not. Aftermarket it's going to cost you $1300 to 1500

Just got mine last week after waiting 8 months.
The Tech package is way cool and worth the upgrade price.
    Congrats. enjoy

There are a few tech packages right? A Tech pkg, and an Advanced Tech pkg?

The Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are very useful safety features, especially if you drive in an area with population density. I would hold out for them.

Correct. Tech package includes BSM with rear cross traffic and pedestrian detection as well as rear parking sensors. The Adv tech package includes all that plus 360° cameras.

6mtTRD: Thank you for finally explaining that! I have been seriously triggered by the 2022 eBrochure and all those dots in all those columns, and I haven't fully recovered (yet).:smash: For example, I didn't realize the vehicle came with a back-up camera. :facepalm:I thought you might only pick that up with the Panoramic option. I blame myself.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Not being able to type while moving is a safety feature. They don't want someone searching for directions while doing 70 mph. Every GPS-enabled vehicle I've ever been in is the same way.

I like using Waze or Google Maps with Android Auto.

I called a different dealer in the same group and they happen to have the one I wanted with the LED light package and the tech package and they're going to deliver to my local dealer with it arrives. I won't get the color I want but I think that's the best I'm going to do these days. Getting it for MSRP so I can't complain
