All the folks that put solar on their sp roof, did you use the flat flexible panels? Or something more substantial? I was going to light weight, flexible. Maybe make some low profile frames for them with aluminum, and mount to the t slots.

For under the side bed caps, and I pulled the front rail and put this under also. I also cut it and put it under the T rail as theres gaps there. Its also good for sealing the bed cubbys and anywhere bolts or clips pass through. Very very sticky. If you mess up, your destroying it pulling it off.

@Mark77 I installed 3 t-track and then used a polycarbonate panel and glued a flex panel onto it. I then made front and back end caps out of vinyl fence caps and bolted all of this to the T-track. I then used Sikaflex around the 3 T-tracks. Super solid! Somewhere in this thread I have photos. I can take more if you want to see what I did.

Same setup here. It's been solid. The reason for using this setup was to get some airflow under the solar panels. I'd read a number of reviews saying the flexible panels were more sensitive to overheating and could be damaged without airflow to help cool them. Others in this thread have used commercial velcro or adhesive to attach them direct to the camper roof without issue. Haven't met anyone in person who's had an issue either way.

With Solar, I watched a lot of Will Prowse videos.
Basically with the flexible direct flat mount it seems they loose quite a bit of efficiency because of heat.

I have found the same in the research I have done. Flex panels suffer more from heat issues. I know that the Polycarbonate mounting boards that others are using might help, but I figured I would just go with hard panels from the start. I'm also hoping that using panels will help "shade" the roof of the X1 and allow me to sleep in a bit longer before the tent starts to boil inside (think low desert of SoCal and UT/AZ summer temps).
    :tumbleweed:

Just purchased two 200w panels and a RedArc BCDC charger to mount onto my X1 (Prime day deals). Those might be a little over-kill for most, but I have a 180 Amp-Hour Lithium battery and want the ability to charge 2 Ebikes (mountain bikes) off grid as well as run a fridge. Would also love enough capacity to run a small microwave if needed for morning coffee, quick lunches and evening popcorn.

Im all over the place w questions since my install. How much weight do you think youve (anyone) attatched to the internal molle panels? SP replied to my email and said they can hold at least 50lbs. But, they never actually tested it for a max load.

Just trying to get an idea of what i really can DO with parts of the camper.

Way more than me. Simple 100W Renogy panel and 30A controller for a 100AH battery. Just fridge and a few led lights for me.

Heading out for 10 day loop around Lake Superior. Rigged up a screen. It has two magnetic seams which will allow me to get into the fridge and chuck box. It has Velcro around the perimeter and came with a roll of sticky backed Velcro. I just stuck it all around the inside and let it drape down. I cut about 2 feet off the length because it’s for a sliding patio door. I may cut more off. Since it’s wider than the SP I folded it over on race end after attaching the center over the door. I also bungeed up two short traction boards on Det the side doors.

I’ve added screens to a 4runner I camped in/hunted out of for a couple seasons. Works great overall, but still got a few bugs around the edges. I read about permethrin treatment to deter/kill bugs on outdoor clothes, and decided to try it in my screens. It made a noticeable difference.

I have also used permethrin on my outdoor clothes, around outside doors, on screen doors and windows. Seemed to work pretty well. It would certainly be worth a try on your screen Pagan220. Your screen looks like an excellent idea! If it works in the rear, it should work on the sides as well.
Might give this a try myself! Mosquitoes love me…I HATE THEM!

I did something similar to this for the sides. Took one of the screens, for a walk thru man door, split it where ii was sewn together at the top and put one on each side door of the SP and attached it with Velcro. Fits almost like it was made for it.
