Everything was good, after all paperwork was done It was already dark. I drove home, and was playing a little bit with the interior system and did not pay attention to the outside. Then, I went to work and when I looked at the paint, I saw this “brownish / greenish” dots on either side of the truck, to include inside the PPF films.

At first I though it was “Rail Dust / Iron Dust” and tried Clay Bar and the Meguiar's Iron Removing Spray with out any luck. This feels like it is embedded well into the paint.

I am stating to think that this is something else or a bad paint job / lack of quality control from the plant.

What do you guys thing this could be?

    Thank you.

Have you tried a clay bar? If that doesn't work, try a mild polishing compound on a microfiber towel.

    Dumbgeon is thataway.

That looks like sling from tire shine. Try a bug and tar remove or a light polish with a DA and it should take care of it.

I believe that may be the issue. I also heard that it fades over time. They used a foam type tire shine

get that stuff off asap. It’s probably some alkaline substance that could eat through the clear

wash your wheels and tires as well and get it all off

I would try a polish with a random orbital.

He bought a Pro, I'm pretty sure he's quite knowledgeable with trucks and doing stuff with it.

I’ve tried everything mentioned here and nothing seems to work. The only thing that worked was sanding a small section with 8,000 grit sandpaper then buffed and that seemed to make it some what disappear. I’m not inclined to do that to my new truck just yet. If it is tire shine stain, I will just wait a month or so to see if time fixes it or make it fade away.

I agree with this. It's brand new and it's obviously underneath the clearcoat. Take it back for warranty.

To me this looks like it could be some type of fuild that may have leaked from the semi delivery trailer, since you have just picked this thing up with no miles on it. Tire shine does not etch paint. If it did it would eat tires, and rims up. Hydraulic oil will etch paint if left on for a longer period of time.

I would suggest a trip back to the stealership for a chat about it. Maybe they will pay for a full detail with the wet sanding so no real paint work would need to be done.

Do you have the Goodyear Wranglers? Awhile back there was a thread about the combination of this particular tire and tire shine that creates the brown spots that embed into the paint. If I remember correctly, the endpoint of the thread was to let it fade (I also think someone either returned and replaced their truck and another person had a repaint...these seem like drastic moves if a month or so fades them out. Other side of the coin is that in a month or so the brown spots set permanently, although I have yet to read a thread about that.).

I got an unidentified brown spot, silver dollar size or so, on mine on the lower front passenger door. Wax, etc. did nothing. It finally faded out after a month or so.

I will try to track down the thread. In the meantime:

"Hey Guys! I Work W/lexus And We Have Had The Same Issues W/pearl White Cars... It Has To Do W/the Chemicals In The Tire Shine MIXING WITH THE MOLD RELEASE AGENTS ON THE TIRES FROM WHEN THE TIRES WERE MADE..(IF TIRES WERE CLEANED GOOD BEFORE SHINED IT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED) And It Will Effect The Pearl In The Paint. Dealers Should Know About This We Found Out In Early 2006. We Have Found That Using Rubbing Alcohol On A Soft Cloth Will Remove Some Of The Stains In Some Cases....if Not We've Had To Repaint...hope This Helps...."

"Most tires are treated with an anti mold agent. This agent reacts with tire shine, especially ones that are silicone based. When gooped on or comes in contact with water, it gets flung onto the sides. Silicone based shine is like WD-40. It beads the water up so when it flings off, it makes perfect little dots on your truck that stain. This agent in conjunction with tire shine that causes this issue is known as “tire blooming”. So no, it’s not actually the “shine” by itself.

The only thing that can be done (before hand) is to pressure wash the tire with a degreaser and scrub brush to remove the agent. Then use shine only after tire is completely clean. This minimizes the effect.

Like I said earlier, this happened to me. It took 5 days but all the dots faded into oblivion."

Yes those are my tires. That’s what I read. I hope they fade. I don’t want to do anything extreme to my paint yet. Thank you.
