No clutch fan with a transverse engine...

There's a $1000 USD electric fan conversion kit available using a high performance GM fan and Lingenfelter controller, but you'll need to wire in a cutoff switch for water crossings.

I ain’t gonna lie my wife has a hybrid camry, when she’s done with it, I’m slapping a RTT on it and making it a road trip vehicle. Seeing the miata is really cool, that’s a dumb idea I can see myself doing.

Cool to see, yeah I pulled a shank from my rear wheel in the maine woods, similar roads to what your pictures are showing. I had a spare in the bed so it was easy to chuck the spare on, get going and then fix it later at camp. Plug kids are a need for me on stock charlie’s :D

Honestly might consider taking the wife’s camry - hybrid, 50MPG pre-tent. Throw a solar pannel on the trunk lid, fridge in the trunk……. Now I’m getting ideas

Using google maps, it says from home to Tuk is 80 hours, 4700 miles. Round is 160 hours, I’d say 170 because I’d likely take a different route up so it’s more of a loop, not just driving the same roads back. IE go up via QC/Ontario, come back down via the dakotas. Sask up to Tuk would be an out and back, but loop otherwise. Anyway, that COULD be done in 16 days, I try to estimate 7 hours a day drive time on road trips, but honestly woods like trips like this, I can foresee closer to 10 and not being “drained”, or “missing” things, IE when I drove from FL panhandle to DC in a 10 hour shot, I feel like I skirted straight through some cities would be cool to stop in, but whatever.

I dunno …. I’ll keep it in my plan ideas, but Summer ‘23 is more of a 50/50 chance right now.

I rode from California to Inuvik on a 600 thumper, in 1987 before the summer road to Tuk was built. Took a sightseeing flight from Inuvik to Tuk, with a brief stroll through town and a dip in the ocean. IIRC the flight cost $60. Anyway, the roads were probably much worse then; we also tried to take less-travelled roads as much as possible (Stewart-Cassiar, various BC Forestry roads). So average speeds were low. On the other hand, the length of daylight allowed some pretty long travel days when we needed to make time. Enjoyed this post and @Shveet ‘s blog.

    Hey, thanks for the shoutout!

I remember our chat at the campground and I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your trip. The drive to Tuktoyaktuk is unforgettable, and I encourage anyone to go for it.

When the conditions are good I can see that being a fun drive in a little convertible, but when conditions are bad a different story.

    Awesome!!!

Go for it. Watch the weather and road conditions.

I had great conditions. Almost totally dry all the way up and back.

    20220629_135714.jpg

I did pay close attention to road conditions before I went, and as I said above, I got a lucky streak of weather. The road was in great shape. But don't discount the lightweight roadster in less-than-ideal condition. The Dalton was a mess, and I had no problems at all.

    20220718_115458~2.jpg

Anyway, not here to hijack this thread. The drive north is well worth it, no matter what you're in.

Definitely not hijacking. I’m almost tempted to go up in the hyandai accent now. Save on gas and more money for other shenanigans. @Norilsk you can ride up in the gt86….

My wife has a hybrid Camry I am toying with the idea of slapping the tent on top or doing my same platform setup when she goes to trade it in. 45mpg road trip machine.
