Truck will drive in first and sometimes second gear. Hard jump from 1st to second if it goes at all. No reverse. Code coming up is p0776. I flushed transmission fluid and replaced. Looks fine. No visible damage to any connectors or wires. Anyone else dealing with this or have some insight. Thank you for your time.

Google says that is "pressure control solenoid B perf/off". Sounds like the trans control unit is recognizing a stuck or unresponsive solenoid, or at least that is it's best guess.

You could reasonably throw a solenoid at it.. but at least look at the wiring closely for any pinches or frayed spots.

Anything further diagnostic wise would require a DMM and/or scan tool

I had the same code on my 06 a while ago. Mine was p0776 - PCS - B. My truck would not shift above 3rd gear intermittently. I took it to a local transmission shop and they replaced one of the solenoids and it has been working great since. Hope this helps and good luck with your issue.

Did you pull the pan and filter screen?

If so you may have pinched a wire in the internal harness. It has happened before.

Thank you @DoubleB & @gearcruncher. I ordered the solenoid, pan gasket and new filter from Toyota. Will be installing soon. Updates will follow.

Be careful with the pan bolts. They break off easy.
Really, they do. FSM says 39 INCH Pounds.

Thanks @TnShooter. I’ve been spraying them daily with pb blaster as I wait for parts to arrive. Slow and steady.

Some break off going in too.
I’d recommend going by feel. Snug should be good enough.
I’ve always liked the idea of having to tighten them a little bit more later if needed, than break off from going too tight.
