Swapped to a 9" but stayed with leaf springs. If I was to the point of swapping in different axle it's going to be a 3 link with coilovers. Gotta weld up all the brackets anyways..

Well, yeah. But, it's completely unnecessary for what 99.9% of us will ever do with our toyotas.

That's it...I've gotta quit this site. I stumbled on the rear seat delete thread. F@ck, I need one of those platforms (like a hole in my head)! There goes another grand...:spending:

Sweet baby Jesus, make it stop.

I know the feeling...unexpected boat and traction boards purchased this weekend, now I am eating ramen noodles. That's OK, everything tastes better with extra BRO points.

Just whatever you do don't look at that thread with the sick molle rear seat back panels. Don't do it, don't you dare!

^^^This 100%. Plywood and patience and you can probably make something better than those Goose platforms for less money (other than your time spent).

would 100% recommend. the back seats are worthless and theres so much more space once you remove them. plus you can secure things to the platform.

    I half agree.

Armor, tires, suspension and recovery equipment provide usable benefits, even if what some of us install aren't really necessary.

A Ford 9" really isn't doing anything for you unless you're making like 1000 horsepower.

most of the people do it when they start turning 35+ tires and things start breaking.. usually its the people out east that are rock bouncing.

I always say: give me some wood, I'll burn it for heat. Give me some steel, I'll make something. Buying would work better. OTOH, I do have a bunch of 1" thinwall square tube in the shed...some 3/16" aluminum sheet...a bit of aircraft "L" channel...rubber matting or carpet...

Cutting the hatches out would probably be the biggest challenge.

Being able to say I made it: priceless!

    Now, where's my tape measure...

Ok, sure. But, nobody on this thread is rock bouncing. And, probably only a handful on the entire forum are.

On the other hand, many of the people on this thread (and forum) do some light off-roading and benefit from mild upgrades.

But, to the point you were probably making, there's no shortage of overbuilt Tacos and 4Runners that probably never see anything beyond a gravel road.

I do seem to recall maybe one or two guys attempting an obstacle in Wisconsin recently that were bouncing a little on a rock...who could that have been... :D
