I'm installing a pioneer avh3200bt and the installation manual only lists 1 wire to connect for lighting. Does this mean the unit can't be dimmed? I've looked at these threads to determine where to do the light tap.

With my meter it looks like the green is 12 volts with the light on and the green white voltage varies depending on the dimmer switch. So the voltage difference between the two controls the dimming.

If I've only got 1 light lead for the radio, is there any way to get dimming. Haven't gotten to turning the radio on yet, so maybe I don't really need dimming????

    Thanks

I got a reply back from Pioneer USA that indicates the display dims when the light are turned on. My old school thinking got me confused thinking you needed to turn on lighting for the radio at night. I guess since it's a display, it needs to be brighter during the day then at night. I'll hopefully find out this weekend, all the wiring is in, now just need to plug it in and test/configure.

Just an FYI when reading this: If you get your instal kit from Crutchfield the directions for install are confusing. There is a Ver #1 and Ver #2 if you have Ver #1 it will tell you to hook up both wires. You dont find out you were only supposed to hook up one of them until you turn on the truck and lights and you have no lights....headlights and all go out and do crazy things! I was able to get most of the lights back on by unpluging the dimmer switch and all works fine except climate control lights are 100% out until I order a new dimmer. Called crutchfield and they said "ya there is a new rev to that. You should have Vers #2 not #1" Personaly I think they should pay for my dimmer but F*ck it! Just a warning! be careful
