I don't understand how you guys keep your trucks so clean. Mine is constantly dirty and seems to get more and more pinstripes every weekend. I'm jealous, looks good!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I still baby this truck as it's still fairly new to me (less than a year). I try to wash it once a month.
My 2005 was a much different story...

Finished my delayed spring cleaning in the garage. Yay. I can now get my truck inside to do the hood struts and 3rd gen suspension. Did not take before pics. Just too embarrassing. Took me 4 days and filled 3 large trash cans plus sold a lot of old lawn equipment. The machine shop is on the left, out of view, in the picture. Now the cans are empty so I will continue cleaning my benches and cabinets.
    20220802_184920.jpg
Now that I have room to work again everything is on a big delay. Wife flew down for a quick week at the Florida place. While working in the flower bed, on a rolling stool, wearing flip flops, she stood up wrong and broke her ankle and her foot. Doc said it looks like she jumped off a roof. It is so bad that she cannot ride the 12 hours home in a car and certainly couldn't handle a layover in Atlanta. The ortho staff made arrangements for her to take a direct flight home Friday using a wheelchair. The surgery requires a trauma surgeon and many weeks of recovery. So life will be quite different when she gets home. Effing flip flops. I have had 5 foot surgeries, with up to 6 month recoveries, so I wouldn't get caught dead in flip flops. Lesson for all the youngsters.

    Lol wow. I get it.

but I love cleaning my cars. So I wash my truck once a week. And a light spray on ceramic coating every 2 months.

it hurts seeing other peoples cars. They paid so much money for them and they are all filthy.

Some stainless is magnetic, but in all honesty I don't entirely remember what I had used back when I installed it.

picked this up @ Costco to keep in the truck
I think it'll fit but haven't found a spot yet

got tired of having no tools on hand if I ever needed to do something mobile, like:
-adjust bed mount quickfist brackets (probably 15mm)
-remove ditch light brackets (12 or 14mm)
-remove tailgate inner panel (T30 torx)
-disconnect battery terminals (10mm, maybe 13mm, etc.)

best I could find after research. Don't know if there's better out there but it's better than nothing.
Seems better than a tool roll. Blow-molded case to keep everything visible and not falling out

technically probably a good idea to add more somewhere
like long ratchet/breaker bar for wheel/axle nut removal etc

There are several grades of stainless. 300 and 400 series are the most commonly used. You would need to read the chemical compositions to find the ones with the highest percentage of carbon content. Any of those with an "L" suffix are low carbon grades. If you are looking to use scrap material then simply test them with a magnet. It has been a long standing misconception that stainless is not magnetic. Before I retired my job was to compare actual chemical composition test reports to the composition requirements in government contracts.

Picked up the set of custom u bolts I had made locally and I used an impact and power ball attachment to clean up the new 3rd gen leafs for this weekends install. Applied a coat of rust neutralizing/resistant paint once I got them cleaned up. Pics from during the process. Didn’t get a final pic of the prep work but will have plenty come Saturday. For those interested, I’ve found this thread handy on tools to carry in the truck.

I have the same one from the same place. I stick it behind the rear seats in my double cab. I have the plastic inserts removed and I just throw a bungie strap around it to keep it from rocking against the rear and the back seat. Always nice to keep a spare set of some tools inside the truck. Now that I have a bedbox I keep my larger tools in that but I still keep this tool set in the truck.

I started doing what hxp05560 said and gathering those tools specific to the tacoma but its always nice to have a little everything incase you help a friend or stranger who has something other than a taco.
