What’s up everyone. I’m a Tacoma / car mod noob. It’s time to change the tires on my 2016 Access cab and I wanted to go ahead and change the wheels as well. I would like to go with the 17x7 TRD OEM wheels but not sure what tire size to buy for these.

My access cab is stock and I would prefer to not have to lift it while still putting these wheels, but if I have to I would like to know.

    I guess my questions are:

    1) would 17x7 wheels fit a stock access cab
    2) tire size if I choose 17x7 wheels
    3) do I need to lift or do anything if I want these wheels / tire size?

trying to keep the cost down as much as possible so if I have to get smaller wheels/tires I’m ok with it but I really like the 17x7 2022 OEM ones.

here’s a photo of my taco!
    thank you!!

What's your use case? Do you go off-road at all or just commute? Snow/harsh weather?

The stock sport trim rims are 17.0 x 7.5 so you should be fine. Tire selection and size is a whole different discussion.

I use it for work and drive tons throughout Florida. No off roading, just city/highway.

But I do want some off road looking tires that make it look bad ass!

Even though it just looks, Falken Wildpeak AT3 are pretty darn popular. Good all terrain without the road noise of something like a KO2. Aggressive looking, good performance. 265 65 R17 I think is the stock size. The tire shop can validate though.

    Thread for pics.

I went with 255/70-17; on TRD wheels; that’s a 31” tire. About 1/2” bigger than the stock tires with 16” steel wheels
