Haven't seen any mention of air intake components... I always throw a K&N filter on my vehicles to get a small (but instant) mpg/hp increase that actually gets better as the filter gathers debris... don't quite know how it works, and it's not an enormous increase, but it is an increase none the less. I might even look at the intake system once my SR5 arrives.

There ARE... still some dealers that aren't going over MSRP. If you hit their site and it says "Call for pricing", call somewhere else.

What rig did you get, and do you mind me asking what the extended warranty cost you?

wow i do that every day. but the way i get my MPG is with the fuelly app or the Carfox app. they let you put the mileage and the gallons of fuel you put in and it calculates it for you. over the 6 month of owning my truck it has always been 20-22 MPGs. the one in the dashboard is optimistic and tells me some trips are 23mpgs

ACLB SR V6 4X4 with the SX package. IIRC it was $2500 to take it up to 120K miles. Would have to dig out the paperwork to be sure. I think extended warranties are BS, but again somehow my wife talks me into spending more money that I want. :)

Would of been fine with the base model 4 banger 4WD.

I average 21+MPG in three years of ownership; closer to 23 MPG in the summer. These numbers exclude all towing. The 3.5l V6 can be nursed to better MPG on a stock rig with a bed cover. The new Tundra is close in MPG to the old Tacoma, but I doubt it can be nursed to better MPG to the extent the Tacoma can. The I4 turbo in the '24 will offer incremental MPG gains, I suspect, so I intend to hang on to the V6 until there is an electrified version that has had the kinks worked out.

The sequoia is the big SUV, the the tundra version of the Forunner. The Sienna is the mini van.

That truck reached 400k in 2015, when it was 10 years old. The oldest third gen is 6 years old, maybe its not that the 4.0 is more reliable just that they are old enough to have built up high mileage. For a third gen to have 400k at this time they would need to drive 66k a year or 1.2k miles a week. If your driving like that your getting a Prius not a pickup.

I don't think I've seen any 3rd gen 3.5s over the 200k mark with out having the engine replaced or major motor work.

You don't need an app for that, just a calculator and paper/pencil...

Start with a full tank, drive until the next fill up and record the miles driven. Divide that number by the gallons it takes to get back to full.

I used to do this with every tank fill-up on my '04 SR5 (was getting between 15-18mpg)

    Internal debate...that's good.

The power plant and fuel economy is definitely a downside to the midsize truck bracket. I want a Camry engine in my truck said no one ever.

And yes many have low miles, like I said the most of them are 2 or 3 years old so of course they don't have alot of miles.

From what my OTT Tuner in NJ said, it's the minivan engine.

Either way, they engineered it and it works.

Well since Toyota trucks have shared engines with cars since the beginning. Why are so many upset over another car engine???
