So the 12-15 A/C surround fits well in the 05-11 with no problems? All clips line up correctly? I want to do this... Does anyone have the part number for the Black A/C Surround for 2wd Prerunner? No 4wd switch or opening needed

I did it, well worth it IMO. All the info you need to get it done here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/black-climate-control-swap.655341/

05 - 08 requires soldering due to polarity. 09 and up requires no soldering but does require a pigtail due to the difference in wiring/plugs. You'll need to track down the plugs here:

    https://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/main.html

eBay is probably your best bet to aquire a 2.5 climate control (price wise) Usually comes off a salvage title and looks and acts new.

Pn#8425004040c0 (black steering wheel controls). # 5542104050 (flat black radio surround) # 58805ad010( surround for auto center console) @Drupianothese are for the 12-15 prerunner so they may not work but just in case .

Guys I black out our dash and center console too. The only part I purchased was the steering wheel control panel.
Get some maroon Scotch-Bright, a little Dawn and water. Now sand everywhere really good. You can dry off with a lint free cloth, I used our air compressor to blow it all clean and dry. Wait for a nice day then use a tact rag to get the last little bits of dust. Then start with a very light coat and get just a little heavier with each coat. Only use the paint in the link, you’re free to pick any black you like. You will save a boatload of money. You have to take everything thing apart anyway to change it over.
It’s easy guys just take your time and let the paint Tac up between coats. Sometimes I will let the paint dry enough to use the Tac rag between coats. You can check the dryness by touching something right next to the part you painted.
The hardest part was getting the chrome emblem off the air bag. I sanded most all the chrome of the emblem before painting. Then used some thick gorilla glue on the tabs that come through the airbag/horn cover to reattach the emblem. It was a fun little project. Oh I didn’t paint the silver rings on the dash, tweeters & radio as I thought it would be to much black. I know you can remove the radio knobs but I like the silver on them.

I used this back in the day when I changed the poop brown interior of my GMC S-15 to black. Prep is key. I used their cleaner to make sure the Color Coat would adhere.

Got my parts in from Toyota, waiting on the stereo to arrive before I dig into swapping out all the pieces. Also still deciding on a shift knob option but taking my time there. Picked up a steering wheel leather kit to re-wrap mine, previous owner didn't keep it out of the sun and the top is cracking. Where do you all get the black overlay for the steering wheel toyota emblem?

There's tons of steering wheel emblem overlaid online. Meso makes some, there's a member on here that has a bunch he's selling, you can find them on ebay and etsy aswell

Do these parts fit pre-facelift? In other words, like an 07, and not 12-15
I don't know if the whole dash is different in regards to how it is as a base assembly, and if it's different to accommodate the pieces
or if they're all the same and simply facelifted by having the attachment pieces redesign

Does anyone know the best/cheapest way to update the radio surround?
$300+ seems a bit steep to change a part from grey to black

I ordered Expedition Essentials 2TPAM excited to finally have a good holder mount for phone, GPS, etc.
only to realize they're marketed for 12-15 and would not fit my pre-facelift, because new surrounds stick out more so the 2TPAM can bolt to it.

if anyone is selling their old silver 12-15 4x4 pls let me know, I may be in the market

I think that the only option is paint. I have a base model truck and they are still silver. With paint you can choose black or body color.

I could not find any black cluster rings. The plastic rings take rattle can paint well, it was not hard to get a smooth and even finish.

I was paranoid about breaking the clips on the rings so I proactively bought new ones. I could take my time and paint the new ones with several light coats over a few days, then take on the remove/replace project without worrying about breaking the old rings.

    These were my part numbers:
    55431-04010 PANEL, INSTRUMENT (C)
    55435-04010 PANEL, INSTRUMENT (R)
    55436-04010 PANEL, INSTRUMENT (L)

Thanks for this. I painted the tweeters, dash, shift bezel and steering wheel controls over the last couple days. But now I’m lazy lol. Was hoping to get something easier for the last piece.
