Local dealers telling me Toyota isn't taken any more new orders for 2022 Tacoma's....? Anyone else getting this info....? Is this a constraint issue or just a model year change over...?

Also when trying to build one on the Toyota site there are all kinds of options that are only available for certain colors....? Like no Tech package on a Lunar rock TRD Off Road.

I'm located in North Georgia if that makes a difference.

Toyota hasn’t taken “orders” for awhile.
You need to give your requirements to a dealer and they’ll let you know when they get an allocation that meets those requirements.
I do think the 2022 model year is slowing for 2023, but can’t confirm.

    Oh look, another mod....
It's a common misunderstanding, you don't really ORDER one from Toyota. You tell the dealership what you want; color, options, etc... Then they put that into the computer and find that truck in an already built condition.

But we're less than 4 months away from 2023, Toyota is building new ones. They're building 2023 models.

I was in the dealership yesterday and the 2023 models are being built next month so no more 2022s.

I was told that have no idea when I could order a new 2023. I just don't want to pay the factory double for the options I do want. Like all weather floor mats, $319 option but over the parts counter that are like $160.

Once again, you do not order the truck. You tell the dealership what you are looking for and they find one that is already built when they search the entire U.S. This isn't a Rolls Royce that is designed just for you. It's a mass-produced truck. They build it with features that many people will like. That way if you don't buy it, someone else will scoop it up 5 minutes later.

Toyota's website is kinda funky as it only let's you build what is currently available in your area, put a ZIP code in for a different part of the Country and try again.

    None
Thats partially correct. I went that route but came up empty. Seemed toyota was building so few access cabs in quicksand at the time plus none with a power sliding back window were available, so i had to wait till they built it.
I agree toyota has been moving to their 2023 models that their only selling whats left of their 2022's.

My local dealer was only able to search for a vehicle within his own district, and then the dealer with the vehicle I wanted would have to agree to swap it for one of his. I ended up finding the truck I wanted using Autotrader at a dealership 300 miles away, got them to commit to a trade in value on my old truck over the phone, and drove out to get it. Relying on a local dealer to find exactly what you want could involve a long wait.

At this point unless you already have a build or you're able to find a dealership where someone backed out on an order you're going to get a 23 and pay the corresponding new mark-up in MSRP.
Also you'd be getting whatever it is that they happened to be allocated.
If you want something specific, you'll be waiting a long time and might not ever get it. In my case I originally was wanting a TRD Sport in Blue Crush, but I ended up settling for my MGM Limited since my local selection was limited and months went by with no hits.

You're fortunate you found a dealer willing to sell to you. Many of them won't sell to someone from outside their market area.

Huh? I've literally flown half way around the country to buy new cars. What is a dealerships "market area"?

There have been posts regarding people trying to buy a truck at a dealership in another state and being told by the dealership that they wouldn't sell to them because they are not from the area. There have also been people like you who have been able to go out of state without issue. I'll see if I can find some of them.

Wow. I would never have guess a dealership would turn down a sale using this. But I guess anything is possible. Good luck!

I do know when I was looking, going out of state was going to include an “out of market” adjustment between 3-10k.
Even around me, some dealers are adding a “market adjustment” to premium trucks like the Pro. It takes time to research and find a decent dealer, but it can be done.

And here I'm noticing these ridiculous prices, particularly on trucks, coming down. I would guess due to high gas cost and poor fuel economy?

Factors that impact demand for sure. Plus the high acquisition cost, overall lousy economy, sketchy job market and interest rates.

When the used prices begin to get more reasonable, many borrowers are going to find themselves upside down on their loans.

Hang on for a while. In less than a year the used market will soften based on an influx of repos or trade downs from people who bought will full financing because they embrace YOLO a bit too tightly.

I called a lot of dealers in the midwest and east coast, and all were willing to sell out of state except one specific dealer in Indiana who said they didn't want to deal with out of state title agencies - but then two other dealers in Indiana were fine with it. I also found plenty of vehicles to buy, and it was a matter of finding the dealer that had close to what I wanted. I am sure that the more specific your requirements are the harder it will be to find, but within fifty miles of me there were plenty of '22 Tacomas either on the lot or on their way to the dealer. I test drove seven Tacomas at five dealerships, including TRD Sport,TRD Pro and SR5, including manual and standard transmission, access or full cab, and a variety of colors. I bought 300 miles away, but that was because I narrowed down my wants in all that test driving to a very specific list. Auto Trader lets you search nationwide.
