What is the Advanced Technology Package? Do I want it? Is it Port or Dealer installed? I found a truck I want on SmartPath (may be already gone) but it has a list of add ons and the ATP is one of them. Can I have it left off?

It's not a port installed option.

Nope its a factory option, its just the tech package with a trash 360 camera added to it, not worth it in most's opinion here. They are rare in some regions to find, might be worth it down the road for resale, but again the quality is garbage on it.

    Oh look, another mod....
I have the advanced tech package. The camera quality/resolution isn't great, but it is a great novelty when it comes time for resale. Also, if I'm going off roading or rock crawling, it does come in handy. I didn't ask for, but the truck that I had my eye on already had it included. I do like it, but rarely use it.

Example: When I engage crawl control, the front facing and side cameras come on automatically. So I can see what is right beside me on both sides and immediately in front of me. It's like having a 'spotter' around my truck at all times.

I can also turn it on/off automatically, as long as I'm going under 5mph.

Yep, know how it works, drove exact spec of my 2020 with it and wasnt worth the price increase for me after seeing the quality and stupid triangle thing on the one view so I opted for the one with the regular tech package. But maybe help with resale at some point. Glad you use it though.

I use it with normal driving because the girlfriend gets jealous that her Camry doesn't have it. And before anyone gets confused, I just have it set to auto, so it's on at slow speeds. There isn't an anytime camera mod for the factory 360° camera at the moment... :pout:

It also includes the upgraded stereo, moonroof, and leather interior. I actually use the front cameras more than I thought I would.

Good info here. The msrp on the truck isn’t horrible (well, it is but..) it doesn’t have a lot of other crap to add up to a bad deal. If it’s like 99% of the others I’ve called on, it’s done sold. We’ll see tomorrow.

I tried to use smartpath too, are you SET? It took me probably about 4 months of dedicated searching and reaching out to dealers everyday in a 250 mile radius before I found an unspoken for TRD Offroad 4WD at MSRP with tech and prem packages. Finally got lucky a week ago and drove 10 hours round trip for my LR. Good luck, this market blows.

No problem! There's also tech and then advanced tech, which is basically the cameras on top of BSM, Rear Sonar, etc in the basic Tech package. Though very rare as most allocations have the premium with tech or advanced tech, occassionally you can find a premium only with the stupid chrome bumpers but JBL, moonroof and leather.

I went down this exact road 6 months ago on a Highlander. Got lucky (I guess) found one on smartpath the salesman didn’t even know about. 7.5 hour drive but gotter done at msrp!

For us DCSB stick drivers who already want the Premium package, the "Advanced Technology Package" is only a $650 premium; not sure what all the fuss is about.

Any reason to wait for the 2023's to hit the lots in a month or two??

Because in a month/2 when the 2023 hits, the 2022's are now a year old and should be priced/valued accordingly? Dunno.

I went that route with mine. I use it more often than I thought I would. The quality is bad though but it works.

It will be more like two or three months; my Tacoma is being built this week and is still a 2022 and, per my sales associate, it isn't expected to arrive at the dealership until early to mid-November.

In other threads I have seen temporary VIN numbers with a "P" in the 10th bytes versus an "N"; the "P" means 2023 and the "N" means 2022. The "P" VINs I've seen are all Week 36 or later builds, the "N" VINs I've seen are Week 34 or earlier builds; what this means is either this week or next week (Week 35) will be the end of the 2022 model year for production; to me at least, this also means the first 2023 models to hit dealerships will be late November, possibly early December.

Not an expert on this nor trying to correct your post - Figured I would mention I have a deposit on "P" Vin 6MT slated for mid October delivery per my dealership, Vin look up confirms 2023.

Very possibly the dealer is getting my hopes up and I should expect to see it in November.
