Going to dump a few photos of what I cut out of my shifter to get it to fit. I had took guesses off others photos so figured I’ll contribute something and hopefully help someone out. Almost done!

Just gotta figure out how to get the rear locker and ABS to disengage! Do i need To bypass both to utilize the factory locker?

no need to bypass abs to work the locker. It is probably bypassed because the rear is locked.

So just be clear i finished the swap, rear locker will no longer engage, is this normal? Or is it standard to do the locker bypass/ anytime locker mod after install?

you will want to do the locker anytime mod, it is controlled from the factory via the 4wd ECM which is now not being utilized.

Looks good, leather boot is over rated. I've been rocking Crown Royal brand shift boots for 10+ years and they have barely faded from that beautiful blurple color.

I hear ya, so was I. The cheap ass DIY look LOL. One day maybe I'll pony up for a real shift boot.

At this point my whole truck looks like a DIY, and someone let a kindergartner have at it with a saw and a paint brush :anonymous:

Yes, that is a Redline shift boot and center console cover. Turned out excellent, just took quite a while to get it. The Russian invasion had just started then and this is coming out of Poland where it is hand made.... so that could have caused some delay.

I have read through this whole thread. Fantastic work. So much good info.

Those of you who added a Marlin Crawl Box in addition to the manual FJ transfer case, how do you like it? I love the idea of a dual transfer case. Any regrets? Does it crawl well?

I'm considering putting in a 4runner tcase and leaving the ADD functional. I'd like to design something that uses the sensors on the 4runner tcase to automatically engage the ADD and illuminate the correct lights. I'd like to do this without having to cut into factory wiring.

Does anyone have a 4wd ecu for a 2nd gen automatic, no elocker, that they would like to part with? Or know where to buy the connectors that are used in the 4wd ecu? Thinking a simply program and a microcontroller could work. I'd just like to get my hands on a 4wd ecu to reuse the connectors / case. Thanks

you’ve thought too much. The front actuator will leave you stranded most when you need 4wd
