Hey All, I've read a couple of different threads here about disabling these things. My hunch is that someone unplugged this:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/disable-that-damn-door-buzzer.54732/

My dome light and map lights works in any position when the key is in the on position. So it turns out the Ding Ding Ding IS working when the door is open... but the light will only turn on when the key is in. Is that how it's supposed to work?

    What are your thoughts?

That’s odd…the dome has three positions: on, off and door. I keep mine Off, but if I switch it to door, it comes on when I open the door and goes off after the door has been closed for 15 seconds or so.
Chime on comes on if key is in ignition and door is open.

Do you have LEDs in your dome lights? I seem to recall some people having issues where LED bulbs would screw with the logic in the body ECU and cause them to not work properly.

I do have LEDs, I'll try a standard light and see if I have better luck. I also but LED headlights in and the highbeam indicator stopped working, Although the high beams work fine. I wonder if that is the same issue.

That would make sense due to how the high beam indicator works on 1st gen trucks without DRL.

Yes, DRL = Daytime Running Lights.

I have a 2nd Gen and noticed my dome light works sporadically
since I upgraded with an LED light? could this be related to the same issue that some are having with the 1st gens (screwing up the logic in the body ECU)?

I haven't heard of anyone having this issue on a 2nd gen, I have LEDs in mine and have no issues.
Are you sure your door switches are working? See if the door ajar light is on when the dome light doesn't work.

I've got LEDs in my map & dome lights. The ones I have now are supposedly "canbus" so I don't have the turning on issue as much but sometimes do. My old LED dome light (not canbus) did have issues turning on.

An easy work around without having to install resistors is when my map lights ever have trouble turning on I just turn on both of them. If I have my dome light on, just one map light will turn on fine when I want. As long as one other light is on it should work fine. This is what I did before I got the "canbus" LEDs.
