Thanks Buddy, but I'm perfectly fine. However my opinion is not misinformation its a fact. Like I said they work for me and are an improvement over the what I had. LEDs have improved a lot over the last few years.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
Crash's tests have literally shown some LED bulbs do outperform some halogen.

LED technology is making people crazy. There are more LED lights and screens and the amount of crazy is up. Anecdotal, but what else could it be?

I will recommend them as they work for me and its as simple as that. Not going to get in a pissing match as I can give my opinion and people can take it for what its worth. If you don't like my opinion thats fine with me as your entitled to it just as well as I'm entitled to my opinion. My LEDs work great, nice cut off lines, no glare to other drivers and I see a lot better, further and more of the sides of the road also. Moving on! Peace...Oh, its a fact they work great and are far better than my halogen lights.

Correct, maybe some didn't read that far. LEDs have changed and improved greatly since his test and his results that he found. Some don't get that.

I wonder when Diode Dynamics will build LED replacement headlights for 2g & 3g Tacomas? They have the other two most popular vehicles on the road covered.

They are a leading edge company in lighting technology these days. Maybe one day but when their lights perform this well why bother.

The OEM LEDs are great in the 3rd gen. No reason to reinvent them for the aftermarket

I don't think anybody needs to make replacements for the 3rd gen, 2nd gen could use some. Ford makes pretty good OEM LED lamps. Ford also sells alot of trucks with halogen, so I think there's definitely a market for F-150. People like to customize the lighting on their vehicles.

Diode Dynamics SL1 LEDs are obsolete, you are living in the past if you claim that product has come a long way. Even Diode Dynamics has abandoned product development on replacement LEDs. And the GE +130s are also pretty dated as a comparison point, Tungsram bought out the GE lighting division and now the Tungsram Platinums are the best performing H11.

Diode Dynamics SL1 vs Tungsram platinum
    IMG_0408.jpg

The highest performance H11 halogens have 67% higher output intensity than the SL1 (H9 swaps are even higher). Basic headlight optics, the Tungsram has vastly superior focus leading to significantly enhanced output that a poorly focused product like the SL1 could never hope to match. Instead the poor focus of the SL1 shifts the light pattern to foreground light and loss of distance light limiting the ability to see distance while also making the driver believe they can see better since people judge light output based on the foreground light. Halogens on the other hand work correctly with the headlight optics they were designed for and minimize the foreground light while increasing hotspot intensity to significantly extend distance projection. The best overall is to go for OEM LED, which has the optics designed around the LED light source and outperforms all other options. If set on a replacement LED, the correct option is to go with the Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s which are far more advanced and focused than the dated Diode Dynamics units.

    Reviews with data:
Diode Dynamics SL1 review posted here.
The only recommended replacement LED, the Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s covered here (light years more advanced than Diode Dynamics).
The only correct way to run LEDs covered with the OEM LED assemblies covered in post #3626 here.
Tungsram platinums that easily beat out all replacement LEDs covered here: Tungsram Platinum.

Those do not at all accurately replicate a halogen. It is a garbage product from a known garbage brand. You'll get a bunch of bright short range foreground light spill due to the poor optic design that doesn't match the halogen optics of the assembly.

HIDs should not be used in halogen projectors. There is a reason why no reputable companies sell those, only illegal Chinese products. Your halogen projectors are designed to provide uplight (aka glare) so you can see beyond your low beam cut off. When you stick a massively brighter light source like an HID capsule into an assembly designed for halogen, you have amplified that uplight and glare to well above legal levels blinding oncoming drivers. But those non-reputable cheap chinese resellers certainly won't tell you that. All you have to do is pull up to a wall and see the brightly lit boxes above your low beam cut off to realize what you have done and the hazards you are causing to other motorists.

Not sure what you are referring to. 6000k is perfectly legal and the color temp of OEM LED. 4300k is the color temp of factory HID. 3200k is the color temp of stock halogens. Compliance standards require that headlights are 'white' but anything from 3000k-6000k is acceptable as a legal headlight color. Humans eyes are very sensitive to high color temp/short wavelength/blue light frequencies. So for a given light output intensity, getting flashed by a 6000k color temp is going to be more harmful to an oncoming driver than a 3000k color temp.

Here’s another source of decent testing of LED bulbs. Always good to review multiple sources.
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wvBvhIVSXC4

I currently run GE/Tungsram +130 halogens in my low beam projectors for several years based on previous testing done by crash, a decent improvement over stock. Haven’t decided what to go with in the future. I keep an open mind though and research multiple sources before I buy.
For high performance halogens make sure to look at the projected life, relatively short compared to OEM bulbs so suggest keeping spares on hand for those.

Always great to cultivate multiple sources for info. However, you'll note that the #1 product recommended in the video doesn't replicate a halogen at all, it is a dated LED design to prioritize output over focus, which leads to a poor headlight pattern that looks great in videos as it is brighter near the camera. And funny how that carries through their recommendations.

To really drive home how flawed that site is, they literally recommend one of the worst LEDs in this thread, the GTRs, significantly over the best LEDs on the market as recognized by industry experts, the Morimoto 2 stroke 3.0s. No legitimate lighting expert could say this with a straight face. Somebody is not an optics or lighting expert at all and likely basing results on short range tests that conceal the lack of focus.

    upload_2022-12-2_0-43-4.jpg

Worst LED in the thread: GTR Ultra Series 2 in post #2816 here.
Best LED in the thread: Morimoto 2 stroke 3.0 in post #4548 here.

Weird how the ranking is inverted in bulb facts.

Also note that Blubfacts is paid by sponsored clicks, or affiliate links, aka clicking on a recommended product earns them money. Some brands offer better rates for clicks than others to be promoted higher up in rankings. There is at least one brand in their top list that is very aggressive about product promotion that was banned from this site.

Good read, not changing out my LEDs! Thanks for your time, research and comments. I'm perfectly happy with my LEDs and when the time comes I may pull up the threads again and have a look but for now my SL1s are fitting the bill pretty darn good. I'm happy and that is all that matters. Peace out, I'm done!

Dude, you just don't get it I don't blind people, never been flashed and I have had others drive past me as well as others drive my truck as I ride past it and no blinding to me or others. No issues what so ever as its been tested, fact!
People need to let it go

FWIW, I switched to Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0s in the low beam projectors. They seem brighter but not by a lot. The bluer color does a much better job of illuminating reflective road signs.
