    Up here , mortgages are generally amortized over 25 years but you don't have a fixed interest rate over the entire duration of the mortgage . You agree to an interest rate for a specific term , the longest terms available is usually 7 years , and the longer the term , the higher the interest rate .

    You can have an open mortgage which floats up and down with the prime rate , or a fixed mortgage where you lock in for X amount of years for X interest rate .

    Never going to get another mortgage again. If I can't afford my next house, it'll be rented, or I'll settle.

    Ugh.. interest.

    Im getting the paperwork from paying off my house in a couple days. Probably going to drive me insane how much I paid for that property even after paying it off in 10 years.

    Makes me sick.

    That's a great looking house (kitchen...WOW) and it sounds like you got a great deal, but just amazes me that a house like that ever sold for $750,000. You happen to be the beneficiary of those inflated prices in this case!

    Yeah it's the bay area homes were so over priced out here a few years ago it was crazy. I told myself i would never buy in the bay and then the prices started dropping and here we are :D
