Recently acquired a 2021 TRD Sport after trading in my Off Road for a manual

    FD1F3CAD-77C5-4F43-B821-259FE6DCD5EA.jpg
The new truck came with the TRD lift kit and the accompanying heritage front grill that included a mount for a front facing camera

After inspecting the camera mounting block closer, I found that wires were attached to the rear of this block, and were spliced off of the TSS wiring harness

Anyone have some clarification on this? Are these wires spliced and ready to have a front facing camera installed with the OEM head unit and no aftermarket wiring harnesses?

    Appreciate any insight. Happy holidays

Huh. I couldn’t answer yes, but the tape on the loom look like a custom job. Is there a fuse related to a camera somewhere?

There is no camera install at the front of the grill, so I am not sure if there is an associated fuse

I will have to look again to see if there is any specific labelling

    I am confused

Maybe it is prewired for a front camera.

My truck has the front facing camera. When I installed my pro grille the camera was plugged into a connector on the TSS sensor. I simply disconnected the camera from the sensor, put the camera into the new bracket, installed the bracket on the grille with the camera, and plugged the connector for the camera back in once everything was in place on the new grille (Taco Vinyl grille and camera bracket). Very simple, everything worked fine. The connector for the camera is on the sensor not on the grille itself.

To my knowledge, from the factory my truck doesnt come with the front facing camera (Canada TRD Sport Premium). The Off Road trim does though

How much is the oem camera to test this theory out?

    Oh look, another mod....
I'm not sure how much the OEM front facing camera is, but it's not worth the money. I have it on my truck. Get an aftermarket. I believe Nakita makes them?

Here are pictures of what the quality looks like (OEM):

Not sure how much it is, but I'm also not sure if it would require other electronics or software to make it functional. My truck came with the advanced tech package which is why I have the front facing camera. I also have a dash button to switch between camera views as well as the panoramic cameras. As others have said it may be safer to go aftermarket if you want one.

Yea, my previous Off Road had the 360 camera view that included the front camera, as well as the interior camera view button. Its just odd that potential factory hardware was included with the truck and I have never read anything similar before on this forum

Maybe there wiring for the switch is tucked behind the dash somewhere? Maybe plugging in a camera and finding the switch wiring is all that is needed

    Any luck on this?

I too have the factory toyota lift that came with the pro style grill. When I ordered my truck, I did not order the tech package that included the panoramic camera. However, the truck came with the pre-installed front camera wiring that is plugged into the dummy front camera mount.

I want to just plug and play a front camera into the wire and hope it works. haha Wishful thinking. I can't find the OEM front camera though to try.

Car Solutions makes a plug and play unit and compared with the Natika camera it's perfect. It took about an hour to run the cable to the front grill, completely OEM looking and the best part is the camera was mounted in the center of the TSS with no issues at all. Its tucked under the plastic and the look of the install is so clean and factory looking The cool thing is the steering wheels mode button turns the camera on and while driving you can use the up and down buttons to switch back and forth between the front and rear cam, so no need for another toggle switch, Also when you put the truck in drive the front cam comes on and goes off at 12 MPH. Nice set up and cost about $175. There is a thread on this setup and the quality of the camera is awesome!
