@hpiguy Wow that sounds like you got a good dealer there. So they"re doing process of elimination to fix the problem. Huh.. So I think 20 and 21 have the same part number fox shocks so it will be an even exchange? Or is it a newer fox shock model..do you know part number? I hope my dealer is willing to go through all this. I dont even want to drive it anymore its pissing me off so much.

The truck went in today since the parts arrived.

They had it for about 3.5 hours.

Replacement of both front struts and an alignment under warranty.

As of right now it's dead silent in the front end, rattle is gone completely, not even a hint of it. It also doesn't feel as 'loose' when you hit bumps anymore.

The struts look a tad updated to me. Still the red springs and fox shocks but there are minor differences in the spring perch on the shock and the springs aren't marked with a black splotch and white splotch for left and right sides like they did from the factory.
Instead they have a nice stamped TRD logo on the red spring and some very small writing next to it I couldn't make out but will check later to see exactly what it says.

The part numbers on the service order are stock though, PTR61-35170-RF and PTR61-35170-LF for left and right front.

Hopefully when it gets bitter cold again the rattle doesn't return. It is 35 degrees today, and it was still doing plenty of rattling on the way to the dealer.

    Hope this helps.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Does anyone have the stock Toyota part numbers for these? I cannot find them on the dealer parts sites online. I bought the energy suspension kit and didn’t put it in as the metal insert in the larger puck would still have access to contacting the frame mount.

just want to order another set so they fit right… along with applying some anti seize etc to the metal on them. thx

I bet thermoplastic bushings would work well, too bad no one makes them for this.

Good vids. I'd recommend this to really fix it:

Otherwise, there is the front universal kit, but I had issues with my other body mounts after that:

    You're welcome!

It is the ones from that universal kit, but if your cap alignment is off, it will propagate to the others. The Rogue kit replaces them all and actually feels better.

Passenger side looks like it’s starting to collapse. 15,000 on my truck . No noise yet, I’m wondering if I should change them since my bumper is off right now

Way back on 1.06.21 I posted a video (1st post in this thread) showing what appeared to be the front body mount bushings moving and making all kinds of noise while traveling over speed humps. The dreaded metal-on-metal clunk sound. I created a video, researched a possible fix, made the fix and thought the noise issue had been solved. A few months later the noise returned, a true failed attempt on my part. Well, here we are 3 years later, I still own the truck and up to 3 months ago, I still had the front-end clunk while traveling over speed humps and alike. I was hell bent on one day finding and fixing that front-end clunking noise.

*** The true fix for me*** I created another video, however, the file was corrupt so I can't post the results for viewing. I'll do my best to explain my investigation and corrective procedures. Sticking with the traveling over speed humps front-end metallic clunk, my GoPro recorded a sound that reminded me of the sound that the Road Runner made when sticking out his tongue, "PLUNG, PLUNG." Yes, I'm a product of 70's cartoons. The "Plung, Plung" sounded metallic to me. The more and more I watched the video the more I began to believe that the OEM strut coil springs were causing the Plung, Plung noise. At this point, the only thing I had not replaced was the strut coil springs.

I purchased a set of OEM Hitachi strut coil over assemblies from Ebay. The OEM strut assemblies came from a totaled 2020 Tacoma.

I removed the OEM coil springs and fairly new Bilstein strut assemblies from my truck, installed the completely OEM strut assemblies from the 2020. Tighten all the parts to spec and set out on a test drive.

I'm thrilled shitless to report that 6 months and about 8k miles post fix and the front-end clunk is gone. No matter how tall the speed hump might be, no matter the angle of approach, the speed, weight in the truck, the front-end clunk noise is absolutely gone. In my case, the OEM coil springs were the problem from day one.

Perhaps this might help anyone else that has the speed hump related front-end metallic clunking sound.

I had my driver's side bushing replaced yesterday. Sounds is better but still there. Next thing I'm going to try is strut replacement. The previous owner installed a puck style leveling kit on the OEM strut assemblies.

Mods, I posted a similar post in another thread, so if that is an issue, delete as you wish...

    Everyone...thanks for this thread.

I had been having this squeak for several weeks and, I wasn't able to get the truck into the dealer until last week...5 days from my warranty expiring. I did some research here and found several threads, including this one, so I took it to the dealer to have it diagnosed and fixed.

The video is from last Tuesday evening....you can hear how bad the squeak is. When I took it in Thursday morning, it couldn't be duplicated. I rocked and rocked and nothing. The dealer kept the truck and couldn't duplicate it either. I gave them the links to the threads here and told them it is a fairly common issue, but they said that since they couldn't duplicate it, they couldn't just tear that apart to check because Toyota wouldn't pay them for warranty work. I kept telling them that this was the issue, but, we all know how much respect they give to the self-diagnosing "Internet Guy".

I kept pushing because, from the video, we both knew there was an issue...they kept looking. Finally, late Friday I got a text saying they found it...they called them the "Cab" mounts...not the body mounts...is this them just renaming it to save face, or are these different mounts? If different, those with the issue might want to mention these, too.

Anyway, they left me with the old bushings that prove the issue that so many have identified here. I'm posting pics of the failed bushings, and one photo that clearly proves they were installed off-center. I hope this helps those who run into this issue in the future.

Front end clunk. Sway bar bushings, front body mounts, LCA bushings and the bad design on the front lower strut bolts. This thread seems to encompass all of these issues. It was very helpful in diagnosing the issue.

We were able to fix my friend’s truck with the OEM body mounts, lower strut bushings and OEM lower strut bolts with proper sleeve. Some people here have swapped body mounts and still have clunks, so check these others as well. I’ve replaced my lower strut bolts (3700 miles currently) so they don’t become an issue or damage my still new bushings. I will watch my body mounts. Better OEM strut bolt in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-infamous-click-up-front…going-down.800581/page-6

Anyone know approximately how much to get the front body mounts replaced by mechanic. I am not mechanically inclined. And the clunking is bothering the hell out of me
