I'm from SoCal (I.E. to be exact) too. Rented a car for $140 otd, then dropped it off at Santa Rosa airport. Spent $60 in gas on the rental and $40 on the Taco (truck already came with a full tank of gas). Round trip cost $240. Could save an extra $30 if you pick a small corolla or something, but I wanted a full-size sedan since my whole family was coming with me.

They have a lot in stock, I saw it with my own eyes. There is a literal acre of land in the back filled with only Tacoma's. Even shows on their website they have a bunch. The salesman even told me they were discounting the TRD's because they have way too many of them.

To anyone who is willing to go to Santa Rosa, here's what I did:
Called them and told them to beat Hansel Toyota's price of $1500 off MSRP. Hansel's website already shows the discount so it's easy. They called me back and said $1700 and I said deal. I have no doubt you would get more on a TRD model since they have so damn many just sitting there. The truck I was looking for was a grey SR 4x4, which is pretty hard to find (most are white), so I was fine with $1700 off. It's exactly what I wanted so I'm happy.

Also, make sure that they understand you do not want that "Starguard" vehicle tracking bs beforehand. I thought I did, but apparently not. Luckily I was still able to convince them to remove it despite already being at the dealership.

TLDR: Tell Freeman to beat Hansel Toyota's price. They will.

LOL. In case if you are quoting me, my original post was about the dealers within the SF Bay Area (therefore I posted the dealers specifically within the Bay). Of course I didn't mention the ones outside the Bay Area and things could be much different there. Santa Rosa is about an hour to two hours away from the Bay, for example, I am in Fremont and it's an hour and half away.

Here's an example of a TRD OR Lunar Rock at Putnam Toyota which was sold in less than 24 hours of the guy posting. I texted him *immediately* after he posted online and it was sold before I could get there next afternoon.upload_2023-1-2_17-30-14.jpg

Dang, I’m in the Seattle area and within 500 miles of me, there was literally only 1 manual TRD Pro I could find that isn’t sold or claimed already. I took a peek at some of the NorCal dealerships you all mentioned and I think there were at least 20+ in a 500 mile radius of Sacramento.

Emailed a bunch to see if any will sell their Pros at MSRP. I don’t mind flying and driving back, but it is a little annoying to deal with WA sales tax and registration out of state. Any WA state residents buy out of state (aside from maybe OR dealers?)

MT + Pro will make this a hard search. Be prepared to wait. Have you called John at Bud Clary in Moses Lake?

Been looking for a manual OR in Lunar rock in California for over a month. The dealers that had them all wanted to add at least 3k over sticker (found only 6 in the whole state.) I finally settled at a local dealership near me for MSRP plus the 995 for whatever GPS security tracking thing they added.

Lots of dealerships willing to go 1k to 2k under msrp if I was willing to buy an auto but I really wanted the MT.

Now just gotta wait for it to arrive.

That was my experience in Montana—add ins. I got lucky in WA but inventory on the MTs is so low that you can’t be too picky.

I feel like I paid too much for my truck when I see what others are paying now but I did get a lot of $$ for my trade in one year ago.

You’re right. It’s all relative. If you got two grand more for your trade and you paid a 2000 market adjustment, that’s the same thing as paying MSRP. A lot of times people get hosed on their trade in because they think that that’s just how it is. Definitely not true. If you get hosed on your trade or pay two grand extra for a bunch of crazy over priced dealer add-ons, but pay MSRP then it’s the same thing as paying the market adjustment. All comes down to the final out the door number.
Dealers are experts at playing games with the numbers.
The formula in this 2023 price thread is designed to help people sift through the dealer number games and come up with an actual apples to apples comparison to what other people are paying so we can see trends and people can know what to shoot for.

Picked up my new TRD OR with manual transmission, led headlight/fog light package, advanced tech, and all weather floor mats for msrp at Freeman Toyota Santa Rosa. They had it marked up 1k over MSRP plus nearly another 1k for some BS starguard. I was a cash sale and told them before I drove 3 hours to them that I would not pay for starguard or the 1k markup. They didnt give me much trouble dropping the 1k markup and 1k starguard anti theft tracker. They took all my info ahead of time and had my paperwork nearly ready when I arrived. All paperwork was digital on an ipad I was in and out in 35 minutes.[IMG]

Great job. I would never spend hours in a dealer in this day and age.
