HA that just made my night.

Truer words never have been spoken.

I dont mind the winter, Im a cold weather guy..I will admit tho working in -20 below weather outside or in a grage with no heating does suck a wee bit.

Hey Lisa (and any of you 98-00 guys), if you still were thinking of some sort of light bar what do you think of it being hidden? Basically it would look like this on your truck.
I have a design I made on autocad that Ill post up if your interested. But basically it would look like they are mounted on bumper, but wont be so no holes in it :D.

I am still considering adding lights but the options are limited. I started this thread to see if anyone else had any ideas but have gotten very little response. Let me see what you came up with...I promise to not be too critical of your CAD skills

On your thread I was gonna buy the Nfab one for the 95-97, then kinda thought of this. Still might get it if i decide this wont work or cant rig one up myself. Give me say about an half hour or so and I will upload the pictures, its on my computer at school. The only difference is the design is behind the bumper so you never see it.

How are you going to hang those lights out there without getting some serious vibration?

Well I thought about that but I wouldnt be throwing any super wide ones that still out far, so you can keep a bracket short, and little extra support. I dunno if it will work for sure, none of my friends have that style tacoma, soo either build one for lisa and let her try it or build one for mine and see. I dont think it will be to bad tho.

I am pretty sure those measurements will work. dont judge the autocad, had a little free time between class.

Thats how it would mount behind your bumper. Any thoughts?
Sorry for the huge pictures, one day I will learn to make them smaller.

Two issues I see... Minor things. With this setup, the lights will undoubtedly vibrate, depending on the thickness of the metal used. You distance is tiny to the bumper. Lights will have their threads stick out much deeper than the ~1/2 in. that you have given them. Other than that, it appears to be a pretty good setup. Also, how do you propose mounting to the frame? Welding? Or are you going to make a bracket of some kind?

Not sure on vibrations, I actually think it might be to bad if you keep it short, possibly put some sort of soft support underneath? i dunno. Worst thing you gotta do is go buy some new shorter bolts and see if you can work it.

Welding is always an option, cant for sure say brackets unless i see the specific truck that I would be designing for.

 I'm the same way... I learned to drive in a white '94 Toy PU so it seemed perfect that my first truck should also be a white Taco!

I learned on a 1990 audi 80. Manual. Loved that car, till my best friend totaled it...
Then the 1997 4runner (also manual). Bought it with 110k on the ticker, and as she sits, waiting for a new home, she's got 225k. Insanely reliable rig.. just felt it was time for something new.

Learned to drive in the classic 86 toyota pickup. Passed down from my grandpa after he passed. He used that truck for everything and it was two wheel drive he felt no need for four wheel drive even though he lived in northern montana. Where the winters are hell.

i know a few guys who grew up here in MT who have never owned a 4x4. One was a forest service guy. Never got stuck, never had 4x4, and well, as we all know, roads out in the woods, are not always nice.
