the HRN-HRR-TO2 harness you received came with the pin for the gray trigger wire?

I looked at my order again and I purchased the HRN-HRR-TO3 per Crutchfields recommendation. What year is your Tacoma?

Been lurking around for days and reading about the 6600 HU. I can’t seem to figure out what all the functionality I will be losing by switching from the JBL 2019 TRD Pro HU to the Pioneer. The cons list feels incomplete in the first post and I don’t want to go through the project knowing that I lost screens in the dash for example.

From what I’ve read here’s the list of things you lose, not sure if correct

    - Speed limit
    - Turn by turn directions
    - Compass
    - Song information
    - USB/Aux near the cigarette lighter
    - 2 USB under the arm rest
    - Native microphone

If you use the maestro unit you lose compass and turn by turn (second screen in the center cluster) but the rest still work.

The oem microphone doesn’t work with this setup. Enfig makes a mic that fits in the stock location. USB and Aux can be retained with additional adapters (I believe…don’t use mine so I didn’t hook them up). I’m not sure on the USBs under the arm rest.

USB under arm rest are power only. No connection to the stereo. I have a lightning cable attached there.

OEM GPS is pretty bad anyway but having turn by turn is a nice feature.
There’s no way to retain the OEM mic? I ordered the Enfig per your suggestion but seems complicated to route it throughout the truck

I think I read that the oem mic is amplified and won’t work because of that. Routing it down the A-pillar isn’t too bad at all.

@WickedAx built an adapter to allow retaining the OEM mic. I bought one and intended to install it to try it out.

Someone ended up wanting it really bad so I resold to them and figured I could buy another later on.

However, others who actually get truck mods done have reported call quality concerns with the pioneer and OEM mic. I think everyone who has an Enfig is happy with it.

Tom has an explanation of what he thinks may be happening with the Pioneer unit:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-tacoma-oem-mic-adapter.714665/page-12#post-26835871

For now, I run the pioneer mic in the stock location, held in by foam blocks. It’s not awesome but I’m not much of a phone call guy anyway.

I changed my non-JBL 8” TRDOR head unit to a Kenwood using a Maestro RR. I never had turn by turn show up in the cluster when my truck was stock. Never had a compass or speed limit either. I did not have audio show up in the cluster but after doing the head unit swap, that one works now. Aux USB under the radio works fine if you get the Toyota specific USB adapter. Console USBs are just wired to truck power and have nothing to do with radio swap whatsoever. They’re just chargers. The best mic option is the Enfig by far. You can use the radio supplied mic but it doesn’t hear very well when it’s hidden behind a panel. It’s ugly when it’s out in the open. The Enfig works great in its intended location. Routing the cable is not a big deal, I wouldn’t let that be the reason to not choose it.

I don’t think the enfig is compatible with models where the mic is located in front of the driver’s visor. But a piece of foam and hot glue will work as others have said.

I thought all models have that spot in the upper console?

My factory mic (2021 OR) is by the visor but it’s unused with my aftermarket radio. I added the Enfig to the empty spot in the roof console where there was never anything there but a piece of foam.

well, shit. lol I did not think to do that!
It’ll be easier to do that. I’ll leave the OE mic there and just route the mic to the center.

The spot in the console with the 3 lines. There was nothing there to begin with, that spot just had a piece of foam laying in it from the factory. I put my enfig there.

My factory mic I presume is in the spot above the driver by the visor. I didn't touch anything there, since I swapped radios that mic no longer works anyways.

Got it! I’ll try that location or where the oem mic is. Still waiting on the harness and the unit

The enfig drops into the spot in the console. It is not meant to go in the location above the driver. The model they sell for Tacoma, anyways.

If i'm not mistaken, depending on the model year, the OE mic was placed in the overhead console then it got moved to above the driver by the visor.

When I initially reached out to Enfig and provided that I have a 22 model I was told it would not work, but it never dawned on me that I can just put it in the overhead space where the enfig adapter works. I'm just waiting on delivery and a day to install it. I also have CCF to install on the roof so it'll be a whole day for me to pry the B and C pillars.

I believe you are correct. I think the mic was there on 16-19 models before the radios were updated to Carplay models for 2020+. Either way the Enfig will definitely drop into place on a 20+ in the unused spot. Just pull the foam and done. The only sucky part is running the hardwired cable but it's not the end of the world.
